It just seems like such a waste of life. It basically means become a church mouse for the rest of your life.
I've always wondered about this but the other day, I came face to face with a young nun. I went to visit my ageing mother who still lives in an inner city suburb. there's a Catholic girl's school not far from her house which also includes a convent for nuns.
I decided to take her little dog for a walk since that will be the only exercise the poor thing gets until I visit again. I walked past the school which was closed because it was Saturday but there was a nun trying to get this huge suitcase out the back of an uber. I looked at the driver and he was just looking at his phone. So I asked this nun if she needed a hand. She turned around and looked at me and she was fucking gorgeous. Light complexion but with dark features and sparkly blue eyes. She said "thank you please" in her Greek or Italian or whatever Mediterranean accent. Actually it could've been Eastern European now that I think about it. I don't know what it was. Anyway, I took that as a yes and I helped her get the suitcase down and cheekily remarked that it must have the body of a naughty choir boy in it. Her answer was a perky "no you shouldn't think such things". I replied that wasn't the worst of my thoughts. She did that feminine fake shock look, said thank you and gave my dog a little head ruffle commenting he was cute. I said not as cute as you'd look with only a collar and leash. She went redder than a reused tampon and was absolutely lost for words.
She finally thanked me for my help in a very sheepish manner as if the air had been taken out of her voice and scurried away wheeling the case behind her toward the convent.
For the rest of the day I felt a sense of sorrow. Both for not having tried my luck even further but for the loss of the best years of this pulchritudinous young woman's life.
I also wondered why was she in an uber? I didn't know nuns were allowed to go anywhere.
