Do you think the bible is suggesting dishonesty here?

It says when you fast, to wipe your face, and put oil on your head so that it will not be obvious to men you are fasting.

In order words, hide your hard work from people, and pretend your life has been easy. Don't flaunt your issues in the hopes of getting sympathy or kindness from others.

I will give you a fake example - let's say you had raw garlic and chocolate cake for dinner and you talk about the chocolate cake but do not talk about the raw garlic that hurt your tongue.

I’m not trying to offend anyone but I think it’s kind of frustrating to even try to “interpret” the Bible. Like.. for a god to put his rules in a book but none of them are straight forward and all can be interpreted in anyway, anyone can choose.. What if you misinterpret it the wrong way and then when you die do you still get into heaven? And when he could be coming down to clarify some of these things instead this dude fr cheating on people of earth, having a side thing going on with planet K2-18B? Do you think he’s just tryna start over with some other form of life?
