No, I am actually Protestant. Protestants would generally consider that idolatry, even though it's intended as a reminder and to honor the faith. Some Protestants go so far as to insist that Christmas trees are idolatrous. I believe God knows our hearts and His Holy Spirit brings conviction where it is truly needed. My sole task is to love, and He will attend to the rest.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do".
Ephesians 2:8-10
We are created to do good, but that isn't was saves us, or Christianity would be like every other religion. It acknowledges that no one can be good enough, and that is why Jesus came to take our place and bear the full weight of God's wrath, so we could walk free. Our gratitude prompts us to good works and to sacrificial love.
Yes, though we don't call it an altar. We just have our family icons facing the correct direction and a memorial candle that we light when it's the anniversary of someone's passing or the name day of someone in the family. There's a small family bible and a little box with prayer cards from funerals so the memory of our ancestors and friends is with us as we meditate and pray.
those icons are "images"? thou shalt not have images?
@strateguy632 Dude, I'm Orthodox. Please don't ply me with the protestant stuff. To each their own, ok?
@strateguy632 no you are thinking of Islam.
I'm not Orthodox or Catholic, so I don't see a need to venerate saints or pray to Mary. They may have been "good people" however, they are all dead. Seems very heretical to me to have idols or an altar, Jesus is the only reason Christianity makes any sense. Either He is risen, or the whole thing is a waste of time and effort.
Hebrews 11 is all the saints you need to know about for the encouragement of your faith. @drewtate
To acknowledge Mary as a sinless one, or an intercessor to the Father, means she could've also been the savior, not just Jesus and is therefore blasphemy.
That is biblically incorrect and heresy, a holdover from Roman goddess cults. www.compellingtruth.org/was-Mary-sinless.html
There are many logical leaps to support both Mary as always sinless and always a virgin. They are both incorrect views.
Yes, we do. It has a Crucifix, a Bible, a statue of Mary, and one of the Holy Family. And there's a nice plant off to the side.
There are some drawers that have devotionals and Rosaries in them. The missal and Bible I use at Mass are in there.
There's also a shelf on the bottom that has other faith-related books as well.
i heard some say a prayer to mary but jesus told devil "only worship god' in book mtthew.
@strateguy632 worship jesus but you can ask Mary, the saints, disciplines, prophets, angels, judges and patriarchs to pray for you to God or to intercede on your behalf

Yes, I do. 💕

I don't, but I still believe in worshipping the Savior
Not exactly, but I have a side of my dresser in my bedroom with some crosses and a bottle of holy water and other cool looking knickknacks.
No, of course not, that would go against Gods 2nd commandment of not worshipping idols, for Jesus is in Heaven, so why pray to an object, a false god in your house?
aren't Christians against images and stuff...
Bollox to that ridiculous idea.
@sean1234 Now 618 😂
You mean Catholics and yes I have a stand where I place my bible and religious candles. I also have an area in my home where I have a huge cross/st.
Nah, seems a bit to idol worshipp like in my opinion.. But, to each their own.. I could see why people would do it.
Unfortunately not available but I would like to buy it
No I don't the need to do all that
Our altar is wherever we place our Bible.
Oh very pagan I like it going back to your roots
Groan.
A what?
I thought altars were for the Jews in the Old Testament.
No. All that trash is idolatry.
I'm telling it's sin and idolatry according to the Bible.
God will send you to hell for that.
Yep. All those pictures aren't God nor should be associated with God in worship nor prayer with God.
God is clear that no image should be carved out in regarding to Him nor anything that's in heaven or earth or under the earth.
Exodus 20:2-6:
“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
“You shall have no other gods before Me.
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.
For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
What are pictures as no one knows what Jesus really looked like. Having a picture of Mary definitely is as she was just a mother, and nothing else.
@Daniela1982: God said no images should be attributed to Him. Period.
I don't disagree.
Nope
Yes with a mixture of voodoo.
