Why isn't Deism more common?

I don't know, but the less deism, the better. I find the concept of deism to he completely preposterous. If a supernatural being exists (as deists claim), then it has other attributes proper to its nature, i. e., knowledge and authority which corresponds to it. If that's the case, then the idea that said being would create us and then be completely disengaged and uninterested in human affairs of any sort is logically inconsistent.

What's so bad about that? Matthew 16 reports Jesus telling Peter his intent to establish a church and that what Peter binds and looses on earth would be bound and loosed in Heaven as well. So this naturally means that human study and effort would play a role in religious doctrine, wouldn't it?

And consequently, I'd think it would also necessarily require an intervention or revelation from God.

Vain means "emphasized self beauty" but god never does that , so neither vain nor shallow. Maybe greek gods were vain and shallow but not jesus.
