What do you think of Jesus allowing previously bad humans into heaven?

Yea, were all sinners from God's Biblical view.

However, if Jesus could save a multiple murderer, career lifetime criminal in the final hours of life, He would. We know that from multiple bible passages..."leave the 99 to go after the one missing".

So Jesus wants to save people from their lost souls. We all know people that we think are just awful humans that have no business in heaven... from our viewpoint... no need to list them.

Question is, how do you feel about that... if you go to heaven with Jesus and there's people there that were as bad or worse than you?

I'm not the judge. Christianity isn't about being "good". We can't measure up to God's standards anyway. When Isaiah wrote that our righteousness is like "filthy rags" the literal meaning in 21st century English would be "clean as a used tampon" in comparison to God.

And that's the best of us.

Don't kid yourself that you're "better" than a truly repentant serial killer. None of us are.

It's alarming more people don't get it.

Christ makes it clear that it's not about what we've been before meeting Him - it's about accepting what He's done and learning to have a relationship with God because He paid for it when we couldn't.

Its called repentance.

Isaiah 33:22 "For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us".

Luke 23:39-43

Irritated. It is not his nor gods place to forgive someone, for what that person did to another, and grant them eternal happiness and salvation. Like that's fucked up even by my standards.

so if you were hanging ther enext to him and pleaded for help... which I doubt you'd do anyways, his reply to the the theif was wrong... he should say screw you? Is mercy thus not something you ascribe to? That would be true of the old testament (and others) ... an eye for an eye... you get what you deserve.

Correct, I don't believe in mercy or forgiveness. And it's the victims place to determine if the offender is forgiven, not god.

The biblical truth is we are all sinners and none of us deserve heaven. It is our human brains with limited understanding that have this "I am better, I deserve because I'm not as bad but they don't deserve" mindset.

In biblical truth, All sin was put on Jesus. All human sin for an time was on him. He was innocent and perfect in every way but he was tortured, beaten, spit on, ridiculed and crucified and all sin was paid for.

Scripture says all who are born again are blameless. That evil they did do was punished. Jesus paid that price. They were not let off free.

Just like if you were in the court and they said you owe a 10,000 fine for some wrong you did and if you don't pay you are going to prison. Then someone comes in and pays the 10,000 fine on your behalf. You are free. THE FINE STILL WAS PAID, someone just paid on your behalf.

The sins those people committed were still punished. Jesus paid the punishment for you or them so they are free to go.

I think it is a wonderful and amazing demonstration of his love and mercy towards those who, in their final moments, issue even the slightest but most sincere plea for mercy and forgiveness.
