My power bill has gone up to 300 dollars a month. got me thinking about power generation. in my area i think it's feasible to create a series of manmade rivers and lakes that support hydropower generators. have a lake that dumps into a man made river, powers some generators, when water flow slows, have the water dump into another manmade lake, which dumps into another man made river. essentially using gravity to power the grid

No jokes asside, thats already been done and tested.
Hydropower is essentially using gravity as a power generator.
The first big problem is you need something that is affected by gravity in the first place. So you would need to put in energy to move something against gravity in the first step.
The good thing that can be done by other renewables that are not on demand. E. G. Solar, wind etc.
You can later use that gravity to produce the energy when you need it. Thats how some form of hydro/solar hybrids work. By day they use water pumps to get water up high. At night you can let the water down to use gravity and turbines to get access to it when needed.

that's a decent idea but over engineered. they don't want to make the commitment needed for my idea. you don't need to pump water uphill you just need to use the land like you use the land when you graze cattle or plant crops. not every area will be able to use this. only places high above sea level and with plenty of rainfall to replenish the lakes

That already exists. Irrigation Canal Hydropower. I like that has a far smaller impact on the environment than hydroelectric dams

We already do that in many locations where it's possible. The sun lifts water as vapor to high altitudes, where it falls as rain and then flows down to the ocean. We build dams and direct that water through turbines to generate electricity. It's not an infinite source of power, and it's dependent on rainfall and snow at high altitudes. It's not possible in low-lying regions.

Your idea is good in a place that has hills, but even hydro needs big investments so it is not worth it , unless it is huge dam. Solar is easier to build like satellites have solar power panels.

Electric did increase price from 16 to 17 cents kilowatt hour, but slower than inflation that is slower than biden-omic inflation, and eggs etc. Are cheaper thanks to trump.

No. Kiddo. You'll spend more electricity on those "pumps" than will be left to use.

It's why hydropower only works on existing rivers. The cost to build one is colossal just on it's own.
