New scenario and a followup to the parent question (in which I said I would disown both the friend and parent)… I never understood why some guys/girls wouldn’t be cool with their friend dating their sibling. Like why are they good enough to be a friend but not good enough to be an in-law?

I fell for a lot of few of my best friend’s brothers and although the friend was supportive because they knew I had good intentions, their parents felt otherwise. With one friend, her mom constantly referred to me as her “daughter” but the moment I took interest in her son (which she didn’t find out until like years later when my mom ratted out our interest in eachother) then the mom said I was no longer allowed to come over to her house. I didn’t understand why i was good enough to be her “daughter” but not her “daughter in law”. It was even more weird because her youngest son liked my little sister and she seemed supportive of that. I liked her middle son and he seemed to like me but was shy about it while her oldest son made it clear that he liked me. And she had an issue with either of them liking me.

So for those who would not want their friends dating their siblings, why not if you trust them enough to befriend them? (And just for this scenario, pretend that your friend and sibling are in the same age range to make things less awkward. And if you don’t have a sibling just pretend you do) #FeelFreeToList

I'm in university and there's this guy in my class who I think is super cute but he seems to be more on the awkward or quiet side? Like in a group setting he's definitely more likely to stay on the side and maybe throw out a witty remark but definitely not one of the people who are the center of attention. He's relatively quiet most of the time but obviously more comfortable with people he seems to be better friends with.

I haven't really gotten to talk to him much but usually when we have he's still pretty quiet. Like he'll make some stupid joke occasionally but still relatively quiet. Something I noticed though is that this boy hardlyyy ever gives me any eye contact. He'll stare off at whatever in front of him while we're talking. But while he's walking with another dude or even a girl he's kinda friends with he can look at them just fine. Like if I'm sitting next to my friend he'll look at my friend at talk to them ok but he won't look at me.

The thing is I'm an awkward girl too. Really shy and awkward and can't really find the right words to say. So I can't tell if it's just me making things uncomfortable in general. When we text though (we've only had like a solid 3 convos through text which I initiated) he's really fun and talkative. I felt like it was so natural and fun which doesn't just happen with anyone for me. None of that comes through in real life but I think thats just the awkwardness. I really want to get to know him more but I don't know if I have a shot because he never initiates convo.

Also one time I sent him this dumb Instagram reel that was like "the person with this initial owes you ______". and he responded with something like "maybe sometime but my schedule has been all over the place". Was that just him trying to let me down nicely or is he actually down to hang out? I wanna keep trying to text him but I don't want to bug him if he's busy or just finds me uncomfortable.

My boyfriend is participating in a sports tournament in another city this weekend, and he’s invited me to join him from Friday to Sunday. I’m torn about whether or not to go because I’m struggling with some personal family issues and have been having a tough time lately. I’m also feeling like I wouldn’t want to stay at home alone. If I do decide to go, he mentioned that it would be good if I could participate in the tour with him.

Here are my thoughts on whether to go or not:

Reasons to Go:

Change of Scenery: A new place might help lift my spirits and provide a welcome distraction.
Support: I’d love to watch him play and support him in a sport I care about.
Understanding His World: I want to see what his sports tours are like. I sometimes struggle with insecurities, and I worry about him being safe and whether there might be issues like cheating.

New Experience: This could be a fun and unique experience for me.

Reasons Not to Go:

Social Concerns: I don’t know his friends very well and tend to be shy in social situations. I’m worried about not fitting in and being stuck there all weekend if I don’t connect with them.

Tour Responsibilities: I’m concerned about being labelled as a “tour virgin,” with responsibilities like handling food and beverages. There will also be a couple of new guys that are going and 1 family with mother and son going along with the dad. My boyfriend said I might not have many duties, but the thought still worries me.

I’d appreciate any advice or thoughts on what you think might be the best course of action. Or if you have any suggestions on how I can ease my anxiety would be great too thank you.
