Brad & I started long-distance dating through an online app in Nov 2023. He met me in person in Feb. I managed to move closer to his city because of school from March-June, so once I came, we began living together & he proposed to me in May. I didn't share this info with my family since they're crazy. A school situation happened where I got dismissed, so my sister came to move me back home in June. She met him for the first time & didn't like him for different reasons. She said I had no choice but to come home since my mom had heart issues & needed me. Brad didn't want me to go, so I told him to meet my family & we all left the following day.

My family didn't like him since he was focused on taking me back to his home & not caring about my mom needing me/my school situation. I decided to stay with family & Brad disliked that since he hoped I'd leave that day. He left & gave me a hard time about my decision since then. My mom said she plans a Sept party where I can move back in with him more honorably than if I just left. Brad didn't want to do it, but I did. We waited until Sept & then I discovered my mom lied. She hoped we'd break up by now since she didn't like him. I fought with her about it, she apologized, & now booked the venue in Nov by showing me confirmation. She even talked with his parents for the first time about this as well so they can see if she keep her word. Brad now feels distrust with her & said if I didn't leave my home by the end of the month, then he'd end the relationship even though he's not going to help me leave here truly. I told him if my mom started to do anything fishy before Nov, I'd leave, but it didn't make sense to end the relationship over something like this, especially since I planned to visit. He sent me a goodbye/breakup text last night and goodnight. I texted him a couple of texts, but he hasn't responded. Do you think he's taking time to think and will reply soon? Or do you think he's ghosting me? I don't want to lose him :(

Whenever we had issues, they tended to get resolved relatively quickly. A few people were worried that he was controlling since all his exes said he was manipulative, etc. He proposed to me in May.

My sister came in June to move me back home unexpectedly since I was done with school & I didn't tell my family about him beforehand, so that was the first time they had met. She didn't like him for various reasons. We left so he could meet the rest of my family & they didn't like him either for multiple reasons. Brad was expecting me to leave with him that day since we agreed/made a plan. I chose to stay with my family because my mom said she needed me due to a heart issue & they wanted to do a party that honored them in the community. Brad felt betrayed & still is holding onto it to this day.

This whole time, it's been a rollercoaster between Brad & me since he feels like what I'm doing is wrong, there's no reason for us not to see each other physically until the party, & my family is using the party in Sept as an excuse to end/separate us. I spoke with my mom recently & she agreed it was an excuse for the last couple of months since she hoped we would end by now. Since we're still together, she is now working on it, but I feel betrayed, don't want to do it anymore, & want to leave to be with Brad, even though that would put me in a tough position if we were to divorce since my family would disown me.

Brad has also tried to leave the relationship a few times & followed other girls on social media since he was upset about all this. He said that the party needed to happen this month, as my mom promised, or else he'd end the relationship seriously unless I left to be with him. My mom went to the venue, and their available date is Dec. I don't know what to do; please help, i miss him :(

I actually felt sad for this infidelity story I've once read at Reddit. It was written 2 years ago. The woman was 39 (she must be 41 by now) and her now husband cheated on her with a co-worker. He spent some of his wife's money on the affair and took her homemade meals and desserts to secretly feed the other woman. He cheated as a 40 year-old married man with 3 kids. He ended up having a mid-life crisis and supposedly wanted to see what it was like having sex with another woman, even briefly fell in love with the other woman. She forgives and agrees to marriage counseling. She felt she owed him one and clearly wants to save the marriage.

Flashback to 2002 when they were just boyfriend and girlfriend:

When the woman was much younger (then 19 years old), she cheated on her then boyfriend (now husband) with his best friend Tony. He caught her in a compromised position, both asleep in the couch with the TV running on. Supposedly the guy was in boxers and she was with jeans on but only with bra on top. Apparently they had already finished doing the deed by then and there was alcohol. It was an affair going on for 3 months. She's been repentant for all those years, never cheated again and was faithful as a fiancee and wife. She got forgiven and (yes he still proposed 5 years after the cheating incident, claiming he forgave her completely and wouldn't bring it anymore) they still got married.

On the woman's previous post, she actually is full of guilt all over again and feels she deserved it. Did she deserved to get cheated on 20 years later? She cheated in 2002 as a 19 year-old girlfriend with no kids. He cheated as a 40 year-old married man with 3 children?

So on a dating app maybe 2+ months ago, I talked to someone anywhere around 1-3 weeks. Maybe daily or every other day, he eventually suggested meeting up and the weekend he asked, I had to work. When I suggested another time when I was free, he was out of town. He eventually follows up when he’s back asking if we could meet and the times weren’t lining up as I was adjusting to a new job (didn’t tell him that) & he sent the last message asking if I wasn’t a night owl bc he was proposing meeting after work. I never followed up and I don’t know why I self sabotage/chicken out. I’m not romanticizing, I find him attractive & would consider him but I just get antsy yet feel apathy when it comes to (potentially) dating. Should I follow up and see if he’d be open to meeting up or just leave it alone? Tbh if I was him I wouldn’t give me a chance which is why I haven’t reached out recently.
