My boyfriend and I have explained to my mom several times now that I need a much better job (outside of the house that pays hourly) in order for us to move in together later on…. my boyfriend and I are in a committed relationship for over 2 years now. My boyfriend also thinks that my mom doesn’t help me out enough or pay much attention to me and why isn’t she helping me find work….

My mom gets very mad and annoyed anytime we bring the subject up to her and in private she tells me negative things ( I’m gonna get tired out, etc..) and then says why don’t I continue working from home… My mom also thinks my boyfriend is going to make me lose my “disability” benefits that I get due to the fact that I hve severe anxiety and depression and learning disability - if I end up getting a job outside the house….

is she jealous of my relationship? Or is she fearful of me moving out?

ps - everyone loves my boyfriend and he has many friends and is well liked at his job as well

My boyfriend is very outspoken and he tells it like it is - he’s like this with everybody…

he was telling my mom about the importance why I need to get a better job if he and I move in together later on…he also made it clear that we want our own place because my mom kept asking my boyfriend to move in togther at my moms house - the 3 of us…. my mom then told him she appreciated his honesty…

now today my mom seemed to be in a bad mood and told me that she thinks my boyfriend is very sharp tongued and it’s up to me if I wanna continue with him…meanwhile she says she likes the guy overall and we match…

what was she implying? Why couldn’t she be more direct with my boyfriend if she thinks he’s so sharp tongued? Is she feeling jealousy or resentment towards my boyfriend and relationship?

She won’t let me meet her boyfriend unless I have a boyfriend. She only wants to hangout with me if her boyfriend is out of town and she’s bored. She only texts me when she’s bored at work. Usually when she comes over to my house I spend like $200 to host her and buy her a bunch of food, the last time she came over she bought her own food because I was flat broke and ever since I’ve been asking her to hang out and she said no. I bought her a designer hoodie for her birthday and I had to beg her for like 2 months to pick it up because all she wanted to do was hang out with her boyfriend. I help her look for jobs, when she gets call backs and interviews she doesn’t even tell me until after everything is done and doesn’t even tell me thank you. She keeps telling me to go to concerts with her, bands I don’t even like. She buys the tickets then tells me to reimburse her, I don’t even like the bands!! Then I told her I struggled with her depression, I’ve been pretty open with her, out of nowhere, she started started sending me memes that depression isn’t real and that I need to leave my house and make friends. But I literally ask her to hang out and she tells me no and depression is real? Her mom died like 6 months, she should know depression more than anyone else. I don’t know what’s wrong with her. I’m trying to be understanding but what the hell

My boyfriend and I are dating serious - we’ve been together for just over 2 years now and multiple times we’ve spoken about having a future together and have discussed living arrangements…. he’s a good guy overall and treats me well - can’t complain.

My mom had suggested (in a persistent way) for my boyfriend to move into my house with us but my boyfriend has his own condo and secondly we want our privacy - I need a much better job than I currently have in order to move in with my boyfriend later on…

Anytime I apply to jobs or head out to job interviews my mom seems to be very negative about it- she tells me that I’m gonna get too tired and why don’t I continue working from home, etc…. she says she likes my boyfriend and approves, yet she makes negative remarks about me regarding finding work outside the house…

is she jealous of my relationship? Or is she against me moving in with my boyfriend later on?
