I have never gotten a second chance after a romantic screw up.

My screw ups were usually verbal. For example there was a girl I was having a fling with 2 years ago. She was cute af but her legs were a bit too briskly from not regularly shaving. I didn’t dare mention anything the first two times we hooked up. However before the third time I tried to tactfully ask her to smooth up a bit for our next hang out. She got pissed & that was the end of it. I tried apologizing a week later (despite her reaction being a bit over the top). She seemingly forgave me but we never met up again.

In my more serious and long term relationships I usually got axed for not communicating well enough over problems. Not saying women can be a unnecessary pain in ass at time. We all know that. But we have to hear them out whether we like it or not at times. However I had to learn a few hard lessons on that one. Still though I have never in my life had a girl follow up weeks or months later after she initially decided to cut it off saying she had second thoughts.

Anyway I personally believe women overall get more second chances than men for romantic screw ups. Especially in the western world. Even more especially if the man & woman are in “the same league”. Men are taught to endure more crap. Maybe sometimes it’s worth it to be patient but other times it’s pathetic (e. g. taking back a cheater). There are exceptions when women tolerate way more bs then they should if they are dating a guy way out of their league. Also some women sadly tolerate horrific abuse but stick around because they have some sort of sick twisted masochinistic pleasure from that bullshit (another topic). But overall they have less tolerance for screw ups as vice versa in my opinion

But in all the rom coms I (once in a blue moon) watched growing up there is a common storyline of the guy making a mistake but later getting a second chance and/or proving himself. But I rarely if ever see that happen in real life.

There's this one lady I dated over 2 years ago for about a month and a half. We went on 6 dates, then she decided that she didn't feel the magic with me and just wanted to be friends. Fast forward to today, we've remained friends and had a healthy friendship. She's dated a few other guys, and even had one other time she dumped one other guy for the same reason she did with me. Some other relationships she had didn't turn out well though to say the least. She has some cryptic things to me, like how I told her I'm going to Hawaii next year for my friends wedding and then she told me she wants to go with me. Not to the wedding itself, just to Hawaii. I think it'd be awkward if either of us are dating someone else at the time and she came with me. She also told me once if she was to date a friend, it'd be me. I believe she is a very honest person, and if she wanted to be with me again, she'd say so, but I'm not sure for certain. I'm not sure if I really want her back though. I respect her, sure, and I wasn't considering breaking up at the time, but I've also dated, albeit one date each, a few different women and had feelings for 2 other women since then. But unlike 3 of those women that I briefly dated, she didn't do anything to hurt me. She's proven she does care about me, and did try to help me with one of the women I had feelings for. (I learned without directly asking that one of those women was engaged, so that's not happening). Opinions and feelings can change, and for all I know, she doesn't regret breaking up with me, but I could be wrong. Some other people I talked to about it believe she made a mistake dumping me, but I never told her that. What do you think, if she does want to date me again, should I do it?

Went on two dates with a girl I met online. After the second date she tells me she just wants to be friends. I tell her sure, and told her to hmu if she wanted to hang out to put the ball in her court, assuming she would not. However, she actually does, and we message regularly and meet up here and there, strictly as friends.

i just reconnected with a girl I knew from college, and we’ve both decided to give dating a shot. AITA for wanting to fade the friendship with the girl I met online? I don’t really to put in the effort for another friendship, especially one with a girl I barely know. Again, I thought she was hitting me with the let’s be friends line to let me down gently, and wouldn’t actually message me again.
