There are clearly a lot of people that deal with bullies/trolls/haters online and in real life and things have gotten so bad in this internet and cell phone age that people are committing suicide and self harming to try and deal with the issue so unlike maybe yesteryear where a bullying incident may have been for a couple of weeks and not too many people knew about it, now its online, everyday, all day for kids and even some adults and people need ways to cope. Knowing what I and some of my friends went through especially in our younger days and seeing how bad it can be now, has made me an activist of sorts when it comes to this issue. I'm lucky in that I went to a zero tolerance school which was nearly 100% effective in deterring such behavior, but not everyone has that, and even beyond school, it becomes how do you help people deal with this in their private time where the bullies can still find them.
I think for kids specifically, the message can't just be, "ignore them, and they'll leave you alone or just deal with it," because again, we live in a different age, where even when you are a million miles away, they can still bully you and torment you online or via your phone. Since most likely kids aren't going to give these up, zero tolerance I think works fairly well, having anti-bullying clubs at schools, having teachers that crack down on behaviors and even report online abuse to the police are what can help. Also having a support system of friends and family who don't shrug off the bullying but try and help children to cope or go to teachers/authorities themselves. It needs to be a full force approach where kids aren't just left to fend for themselves especially when it comes to verifiable cases of harassment and abuse.

Cool. I used to be big on antibullying. I wish I still was. What do you believe is the most effective way to deal with bullies?
