Why the feminism movement should end, but women's rights shouldn't

First of all, I would like to say that I am all for women having equal rights. If there is a place where women are being treated unfairly, I think that should change.

But I also feel that "feminists" take things a little too far. I am shocked that they rally for equality for women but they put down the other sex so much. I have a seminar with a group of girls who say they are feminists, and they are so disrespectful to men. I think it is quite hypocritical when women ask for equality but try to shut down men.

I know there are places where women are unequal. Statistics show that women are less likely to get hired than men, and men get higher pay for women for the same job. I know that women are more likely to be raped. This all needs to change, and I know that girls will step up to make something happen. But I am sure that it can happen without oppressing male freedom.

Males have problems in society too. You always hear people talking about how women have such high standards set for them (ex: VS models), but most men do not expect girls to look like that. Granted, guys like hot girls, but they don't expect their partner to be that surreal. And if you are going to hate on guys for having unrealistic expectations, know that girls have some too. If you say that guys want a girl with tan skin, curvy figure, big breasts, yet still be thin, then you can also say that girls want a guy with a sharp jawline, big abs, and a nice tan. Although these are the elements for attractive people, neither girls nor guys will hold normal people to that standard. I also feel like it seems socially acceptable for women to verbally abuse men, especially about male things, but if a male verbally abuses a woman he is looked down on for it.

So instead I call for an equal rights movement. When females are being treated unfairly, they should unite and make a change without taking away anyone else's freedom. And when males are being treated unfairly, the world should recognize that they too have the right to fight for rights.

I agree with you. But the wage gap is a myth. It's illegal to pay a woman less for doing the same job as a man. Men might earn more due to working away longer or doing more dangerous jobs or because of women leaving work to be full time mothers, but women still get paid the same hourly rate as men. It's illegal not to.

@Words_and_Wisdom unfortunately women still get paid less than men. My sister worked as an engineer in a company with low salary and all the employees were women. You know why? Because they take this miserable salary without complaining , so the company keeps hiring women to save more money. And forcing the woman to leave her job for raising the kids, cooking and cleaning without her man helping her is also kind of discrimination, he shouldn't be that selfish thinking that he's the only creature who have ambitions on his career.
By the way I hate feminism too, and I agree with the take, but we have to admit that women still discriminated in a lot of places.

I do understand where you're coming from but all movements will end the same, no matter what label you slap against it. The fact that there are supporters out there blaming men for their problems and treating men like scum has got very little to do with feminism. The idea of feminism is equality between men and women, although it is extremely focused on women there are also individuals who are addressing the areas where men are falling behind - such as an increase in suicide. You can't generalise an organisation as large as feminism with a huge mass of supporters. Some men and women are all about equality, but some men and women believe one should be above the other. We've all got different views and attitudes but the men who say women should shut up and get back to their duties in the kitchen are just as bad as the women who call every man a rapist and who raise their jars full of men's tears with a large grin on their face. In addition, because these ideas are outrageous they're highlighted and given the most attention by the public giving feminism a bad name even though the ideology behind it is perfectly reasonable.

There is a movement like that that seems to be gaining ground already. It is called egalitarianism. It is a movement for people that want equality for everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, etc.

Unfortunately feminism has spread a lot of lies such as the pay wage gap. When you actually look into it, you see there are reasons behind it that deal with men and women making different life choices.

One way feminism pretends to be for "equality" is by twisting statistics and doing poorly done studies to inflate their numbers and make women seem victimized even if women have the advantage over men.

Yeah I like the intention but something is off about this. Seems to underminish male struggles in society. Also, the wage gap is something that has been explained by women even, who work in that specific area.

Anyways, the only thing that should change now is marital laws but unfortunately it may never will, since the state is getting benefitted by this in many ways and we don't live in an impartial system. I hope this changes someday or society will keep going downhill... Cheers

If people want to call themselves feminists let them. It's nothing more than a word. There's always going to be this mentality of us versus them when it comes to gender equality. The us should be tolerant people that want equal rights and the them being people that want to oppress the other gender. But in most debates the us is one gender and the them is the other gender.

Honestly, I don't see people jumping in if girls get hit or yelled at. Usually people look but don't intervene. I live in Chicago and there have been fights where the man is dragging the girl through the sidewalk and people do form little crowds and look, but people don't really do anything to help her. Last year there was a couple fighting right in front of my house. I only will call the cops because I don't want that around me. It doesn't matter who is hitting who. Or if any of them yell "someone please help! Call the police he/she's hurting me!" I've done it to help either gender.
