All Lives Matter.. Let's Do Something About it!

With the recent Black Lives Matter movement, I feel like I have to say something. I have many black friends, and I love them dearly and this is why I am making this take.

Is there still racism? Yes. Are some cops corrupt? Yes. But let us not be naive here.

I went to college for Journalism and I must tell you, we were ALL taught "if it bleeds, it leads." In another words, share the deaths, the riots, the crazy stuff. That's what gets the ratings. (This is why I switched my career).

We see on the news white cops killing black boys, we see riots in the streets, we see fights in schools. Is there evil out there? Why yes there is. However, there is so much good that is over looked!

If we chose to focus on the bad, we will just get more of the same. More anger, more hatred, more fighting.

Yes, blacks do have it more rough right now, but it is the lack of male leadership and a faulty education system that is causing them to suffer. Look at Obama (who is mixed) or Dr. Ben Carson. They are respected black men who defied poverty and are an inspiration to many people.

And look at these education statistics, blacks do not have the same education opportunities unfairly.

Lack of money due to lack of education is also holding them back.

This to me is unfair and is the very thing that is causing the cycle to continue. So what are we to do about it? Are we to cause riots? No. Are we to rob banks, sell drugs, commit murder? No. Are we to diss cops, or go looting through the streets? No.

Let's stand up to the education system, let's put in place male mentors who can help, let's give them an equal advantage. You want to protest? Good! Go to your local representatives and demand a fair and balanced curriculum, enroll your kids in programs like Big Brother/Big Sister, show your kids how being leaders in their communities can help change the cycle and victim mentality that is keeping a lot of blacks trapped. STOP racism in it's tracks. We are not a color, nor a race, but human beings. No one makes it out of here alive, let us help our brothers and sisters. Do you have extra money? Good, donate it to inner city missions. Do you have extra time? Good! Volunteer in your inner city and help your community thrive. Riots and fights will do nothing but stir up more racism and violence. Fight unfairness by making new laws just like Martian Luther King Jr.

I will end my rant with a quote from his famous "I Have a Dream" speech:

"...if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.
But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"
