15 Places I Wish I Could Be, Right Now! What About You?

I've complied a list of 15 places I wish I could be right now, for a couple of reasons. One of the reasons being, it's cold and snowy where I am now. Don't get me wrong I actually like snow and think it's pretty, especially when the sun hits it and it's all sparkly. It's quite beautiful, however there hasn't been a lot of sun and it can be depressing. So, that's reason one. Reason two, I had a rough day yesterday and when I'm stressed and frastrated by people and life. I imagine being somewhere with sun and sand, that's traquil and relaxing. So, that's reason two. Now that I've explained myself a bit, here's my list of 15 places I wish I could be.

I unfortunately have to break your bubble a bit in respect to Spain and Greece. My family owns a house on the Balearic Islands (they belong to Spain) for vacation. So I've been going there all my live, almost every year (sometimes also during the winter). While winter in Spain can be really great (all the tourists are gone, it becomes veeery peaceful, you've got the whole beach for yourself etc.), it's not like on the picture you've posted. It's not as cold as in northern Europe or parts of the US or Canada, but it still coolish. It's usually around 20 degrees (65 degrees Fahrenheit) if the sun shines. But it also rains a few times a week (more often than during summer) and sometimes it drizzles for a whole day without a break. Also, the mediterranean sea gets pretty cold during winter. In fall, you can go swimming up until late October because the sea is still so warmed up from the summer, but after that it cools down a lot. There are also some storms with really high waves. This is why back in ancient Rome, there was actually a rule that prohibited generals from shipping their armies around during the winter. Some still did it but many ships drowned quite tragically with hundreds of victims. January and February are usually the coldest time of the year and so it can be fun to quickly jump into the sea if you're brave but it's not really nice for swimming (the current water temperature of the sea in Spain is 13,1 degrees. That's around 55 degrees Fahrenheit).
Pretty much the same things can be said about Greece. Like I said, it can still be very nice and relaxing but in a different way. When I go to Spain with my girlfriend during winters, we usually just spend a lot of time at home or outside in the garden/yard. If we go to the beach, we just go for long walks (luckily, the beach there is around 25 miles long, so it never ends ;-)).

As for your question where we've been out of the places you've mentioned, I have been to:
Costa Rica and Bali (Indonesia). Also, like I said, I go to Spain (Balearic islands) almost every year. And finally, my dad is Greek, so I've also been to Greece several times (I actually have the Greek citizenship).
Because I'm European, I haven't been to many of the central and south American countries you've mentioned. Unfortunately, going there is much more special/expensive for Europeans than Americans. It like for you going to India. If I could go any place right now, I'd probably go to some countries in

south east Asia. Maybe Laos or Cambodia. I actually like north east Asia better (my girlfriend is Korean) but it's too cold there at the moment, then I could just stay here ;-). But in Spring, Korea is absolutely beautiful. For example this Gyeongju, my favorite place in Korea:

It's the ancient capital of Korea (Shila-period, about 1,500 years ago) and it's very well preserved. I really love it because it's sooooo peaceful and quiet compared to the metropole Seoul. There's just lots of nature and rice patties and open meadows and historical monuments and lots of absolutely beautiful, traditional houses and very few cars. It's literally like being in a K-drama with a historic theme :-)

It's okay, I'll realistically never get to go to these places but it's just nice to imagine. Kind of like winning the lotto, everyone dreams about winning the lotto but no one ever believes they'll actually win it. It's just nice to dream.

Also, I put Indonesia on there because I have a friend that lives there in Bali.

I would like to be at one for at least 2 to 3 full weeks of vacation or something if not then then maybe spend at least an entire weekend somewhere like those places.

I see you really like the beach. Of course it's winter in most of these places so you probably wouldn't want to go to the beach there now. I grew up on an island next to the beach so it's not something so special for me. Those are just ones that popped into my head at the first second. To be honest, I'd like anywhere with outstanding biological diversity, geological features or history- not really a "get tanned on the beach" kind of guy when it comes to holidays :)

I've never been on neither of these places you mentioned. But I would like to go to Costa Rica, Fiji, Greece and Spain. I can see myself in those beaches.

I've been to 1,2,3,5,8,14 and 15. Also check out Hvar, Croatia... Costa del rey and chia, Sardinia , Italy... siesta beach, Florida... there are a lot of beautiful beaches on this planet.

I just like to imagine being there when things get rough, that's all. I've never really been to the beach, except when I went to St. Pete's in FL. Other then that, I've never really been there. It's just nice to dream sometimes, you know?
