You say you like them but would end the relationship or not give them a chance if they said they were bisexual. The fact that they find the same sex attractive disgusts you means you have a problem with people like that.

It's the same difference if someone fell in love with somebody and dated them for 2 years, then broke up with them because their partner said they found black people attractive. The person was disgusted that their partner finds black people attractive. That person says they won't date anyone who dates black people or finds them attractive.

What does that say about their feelings towards black people? Does that say they fully accept them and have no disgust, uncomfortable, or racist feelings towards them?

It's the same, a straight person who wouldn't date a bisexual person is as homophobic as a person is racist because they wouldn't date anybody that finds black people attractive or dates them.

It's the same when someone is best friends with someone their whole life, but when they find out their bisexual they dump them out of their lives. The one thing that changed that makes you uncomfortable enough around someone to kick them out of your lives is they find the same sex attractive.

To call people homophobic because they disagree or disapprove of something about homosexuals is an imprecise use of the word. "Phobic" means fear. But I do understand that the word is used a name that liberals call anyone who disagrees with their agenda for homosexuals.

I am not afraid of homosexuals. I treat all people with respect and I try to not treat anyone as being "less equal" than anyone else, despite whatever differences they may with me. Still, I disapprove of homosexuality. The Bible says that homosexuality is a sin and that is very clear. Many people do not like the fact that the Bible makes that pronouncement, but that is what it says. I am not telling anyone that they must agree with the Bible or with my religious beliefs. Liberals pretend to have tolerance and acceptance for diversity but they attack conservatives and try to call us names whenever we disagree with their agenda. These are the same liberals who will tell us that we should not be "slut shaming" and calling people names because of their sexual promiscuity.

The issue here is not our opinions about homosexuality but it is the liberal agenda of flexing its power to force others to conform to their belief system. These are the people who are trying to tell us that it is okay for a boy to go into the girls restroom as long as the boy claims identify as a girl. The reality that he has a penis and testicles and a body full of XY chromosomes does not matter.

I have a new definition for homophobe; it now means "someone who has the courage to maintain their convictions and not submit to pressure to conform to popular opinion." With the word being redefined, I would be proud for you call me homophobe.

As a Liberal, I might be able to believe that if Conservatives (in the U. S. at least) didn't constantly try to block political and social efforts by LGBT people that use scare tactics that have nothing to do with reality. I believe it's okay for you to not agree with homosexuality, but there are people who take it far. My parents are homophobic. To comment on what you wrote, not every straight person does this. Straight people are attracted to the opposite sex only, but they don't all just dump someone who says they're bi. Making the whole 'Racists are equal to Homophobes' comparison isn't a good way to persuade people. It's creating unnecessary anxiety. Some people are content with being homophobes/racists so the effect does nothing in that case. After that you just made other comparisons and didn't really talk much about the problems itself.

Someone's sexuality may turn off people because of hygiene, because they don't want to have to compete with a wider range of people to hold your attention in terms of keeping you interested in a relationship with them. Granted, some people are homophobic, and there's not much you can do about it.

Now, you may lose a relationship with someone because of the way you act, things you do that may annoy them. Things that have nothing to do with your sexuality. You may lose a relationship due to someone being busy with their lives. You can't help that since it is their life.

There's not much you can do to change someone's opinion on something which they know a lot about. Everyone is well informed on homo and bisexuality and have formed an opinion about it. It isn't really homophobia, it's preference.

The reason they bring black people up, is because there is nothing more taboo a white person can be than to be racist against a black person in modern culture. Even if they are racist they are expected to hide it. By drawing comparisons to racism against black people, it adds to the shock value of the argument they are trying to make. Im not disguested at the thought of two women together I just don't trust them to be honest. I also associate them with promiscuity and that is what turns me off not the fact they are bisexual. You don't actually believe that. Race and sex are not the same thing and you know that. Clearly you are just one of the many people using political correctness to shame people about how they choose to conduct their own sexual affairs.

Just because someone doesn't want to date you doesn't mean they have a character flaw. Just like you don't want people telling bisexual people who they are allowed to want a relationship with, straight people don't want people like you telling us who we are allowed to want a relationship with. Who a person wants to sleep with is their own business. That however is a two way street and their partners get to choose who they want to sleep with.

There are all sorts of other reasons that a person would have for not wanting to date a bisexual person other than them being homophobic. Such as them having insecurity or trust issues within the relationship. A straight or gay couple can at least hang out with friends only of the gender they are not attracted to. That can help to ease the tension in many relationships. Bisexual people can not do that.

Considering how I'm in NO way attracted to people of my own gender romantically (and that's by nature) I don't see why I have to be attracted to men who are the opposite and are attracted to their own gender. Plus dating a bi person will mean I have to accept that I'll never be able to give him something he'll be able to get from a guy. I can only fulfill one side of what he is attracted too. Actually, a better example would be not dating a someone who has dated a certain race before. Because in the take owner's example, you're not dating someone for their preferences, regardless of what yours are.

First of all, the example you used to explain this, just doesn't make sense. It's a weak supporting evidence with your main idea. A better example would be something like: "The reason not dating bisexuals is homophobic because people sometimes leave their partner if they find out that they are also attracted to the same sex because they find that disgusting."

But then, it still wouldn't have made sense because not everyone who finds out that their partner is bisexual leaves them because they are homophoic. Most often people leave them because they are afraid they will cheat. Which I think is weird because everyone is capable of cheating regardless of sexual orientation.

Feeling uncomfortable about Christianity is not a phobia. There are good reasons why some people feel they way they do about Christianity for good or for bad. If you have a good reason to feel that way, then it is not a phobia.

People worry about their partner cheating and for good reason. As it turns out a large percentage of people do cheat. This leads to insecurities. Knowing you don't have to worry about these insecurities while they are hanging out with 50% of the population greatly helps people cope with that insecurity.

It isn't that they hate or fear bisexuals, which is what a homophobia is. It is that they don't have that same safety net of knowing their straight partner, isn't banging their same sex friends when they hang out. They are just insecure in their relationship. That has nothing to do with their feelings about bisexuals. This is closer to a guy not wanting to date a girl that hangs out with a lot of other guys.

i wouldn't end something with someone i cared about if i found out they were bisexual. but the idea of my boyfriend having been sexually involved with another guy is kind of a turn off. i mean i don't even particularly like that he's even been sexually involved with other girls lol i think it's perfectly reasonable for someone to be turned off by their partner having been with the other sex, just like some people are even turned off by their partner having had sex with anyone. having preferences when it comes to dating and relationships does not make someone racist or homophobic. it's how you think about and treat gays/bisexuals and people of other races that determines if you are homophobic or racist, not whether or not you're willing to date them.

Im trying to find your mindset so just answer these questions.

Person A doesn't date a certain race because they dont find their races facial features attractive, they have no negative beliefs about that race.

Person B rejects someone they liked because they found out they would date that race. Theyre offputted and disgusted by anyone dating or having sex with that race.

A is personal preference, B would be racism. but that's still a slightly different situation. i just don't really feel that this kind of comparison necessarily makes sense. i just think i would feel weird if my boyfriend and i were both attracted to men. Race plays into it because the reason the racist rejected the person was because of negative beliefs about the other race and people having relationships with it, the same way rejecting a bisexual because of "their dating/sexual" preferences means you have a negative feelings associated with their homosexual preferences. Not as extreme as some , but the negative feelings are still there and thats why you rejected them

I think rejecting someone over them being bisexual is (typically) a lot more complicated than just saying "but gay sex is gross so we need to break up." I just think so often people argue against homophobes with "what do you care let them do what they want it doesn't affect you" but in this situation it kind of does affect you. you can disagree with someone's preferences enough for it to break a relationship. we don't go around berating Christians for leaving an atheist. and before you try to say being bisexual isn't a choice neither is belief in god- you can't wake up one day and say "you know what im gonna choose to be christian today so I can keep my girlfriend." we also let people break up with someone if anything in their past, including any types of sexual experiences or lack thereof, is something they aware turned off by. what makes us comfortable in a relationship is a lot different from what makes us comfortable interacting with and respecting other people.

Those last three examples is what it looks like to me. You might look at it as the first example.

I will not date a bisexual man and I’m not homophobic. Some of my favorite human beings are homosexuals and I adore them despite who they choose to love or be sexual with. I’m not interested in ending up in a position where they may fall for a man for the simple fact that he’s a man and there are certain “manly” things (like a dick and a bisexual or homosexual perspective) that they bond from which I can’t give him. FYI, you can’t tell people who to love and who to date. Just like homosexuals and bisexuals don’t want people telling them who they can date, YOU can’t tell straight people that they must date you.

No thats just illogical. It has nothing to do with homophobia (an inaccurate term in its own right) it has to do with insecurity. People stray people cheat and if you find twice as many people attrative it is common belief that that is twice the temptation and so people find that incredibly uncomfortable because they fear they will cheat on them because they want the best of both worlds irregardless of whether or not thatst the truth the root discomfort is not the bisexuality but what that bisexuality could lead to. Furthermore if they where not comfortable with homosexuality so what? Its their life their choice trying to guilt some one into accepting gays and bisexuals is no better then trying to guilt some one into being straight, its just a really shitty thing to do. Not wanting to be with a bisexual does not automatically mean you find them or their sexuality digesting, who are you to give explanations for their choices?

I don't think I'd ever date a bisexual man only because I could never compete with that. When most guys date a girl is because she has certain qualities that he finds ideal for a girl he'd want to date, but if he also likes men there's nothing I can do. I can't grow a penis or gain tons of muscle or facial hair etc

Like... there's NO WAY I would be willing to share my partner -- either with a woman or with a man -- so, letting him have a "boyfriend" would be out of the question.
But then, I'd have to live with the fact that he would have to forgo, literally, 1/2 of ALL his sexual desires, FOREVER, to be with me. And... that isn't something I could live with.

Like, in terms of pure logic, I could see someone saying, "well, you could say the same thing about yr own husband, if he's attracted to women who don't look like you / share yr body type / etc. Wouldn't you be depriving him of *those* women, too?"

But, see, this isn't a pure logic kind of thing. It's just that men and women are so... different, sexually. Like food and water. I'd just feel like I was a big buffet of food, but my (hypothetical bisexual) partner was dying of thirst.

Incidentally, I'd also feel the same way about someone who was a "switch" (who needed to play both submissive and dominant roles). Although I like to throw constant challenges in my man's face, I'm pure submissive -- I can't stand the thought of playing the sexually dominant role. I couldn't have a "switch" as a partner, for the same starving-for-50% reason why I couldn't have a bisexual partner. Plus the gut-level revulsion

People are entitled to not like what they dont like. Too many folk want us all to be clones thinking and doing the same thing. If a person doesn't like the thought of somebody sleeping with the same sex thats their perogative. Personally i like only women and the women i sleep with i hope only like men or its false in my books. Nothing worse than phonies in life. I wouldn't blame a women dumping a guy if he liked men too. And not all men like the thought of their girlfriend liking other women. To me it would just be a matter of time before i walked in on her and another woman. And by the way real life isn't a porno. I wouldn't knowingly get involved with a girl who was bisexual. As a recent female bisexual posted on GAG recently, even when she was with her male partner she always had a "yearning" (her word) for a female's touch and body. I only want to get involved with straight women. That doesn't make me homophobic because I don't have a fear of homosexuals (which is what "homophobia" means). And of course "homophobia" is just another of the "shut down words" used to stigmatize anyone who doesn't accept the force-feeding of the LGBTQ+ agenda. For me, it's just a desire to avoid getting involved with someone who is obviously confused about her sexual attraction. It would be best for bisexuals to date each other, that way they would be more comfortable with their partner's "yearnings" for the same sex (or opposite) sex.

Or... here's a thought: it could also mean that there are certain behaviors that they choose not to tolerate in a close, monogamous relationship. Like cheating. Not saying bi-sexual people cheat more than straight people, because they don't. But if my SO came to me and said, "hey, I'd like to sleep with other people" it might not matter if it was guys or girls he wanted to sleep with. The fact that he wanted to swap body fluids with someone else he found sexy and attractive, but then come home and sleep in my bed at the end of the night might NOT be okay with me. So their break up might not be based on hate, fear, or prejudice. It might just be a newfound lack of trust based on their lover's confession to wanting other people.

They are not equatable, they are not the same.

In the same way as religion is not the same as sexual orientation.
It doesn't necessarily mean they have something against the religion. But then it would depend if they were averse to the religion and it's teachings or its followers.

Muslims can not marry Sikhs, its a rule in Islam. And so if a Muslim didn't want to marry a Sikh ( due to religious beliefs ). That does not make the Muslim prejudice against Sikhs.

The main point im making is its due to negative feelings about homosexuality. Because those negative feelings about the certain race and religion stopped them from dating them, the negative feelings they have about homosexual behavior is what makes them reject their partners.

Homophobia is my word for negative feelings towards homosexual behavior that negatively changes your opinion or treatment of somebody who does them.

And not necessarily behaviour.

I don't agree because there are multiple reasons why some one might not date a bisexual.
Not that's not to say it can't be harsh.
It's harsh in the same way as rejecting someone for their height, weight breast size is harsh. It's not necessarily prejudice, it depends on your preference.
