Face It: We are Going Through the Greatest Period of Worldwide Social Revolution

People like to think the 1960's was a unique time and place never to be seen again. But we are on the foothills of even greater society discord and change whether we like it or not. This is a change and discord on a much more widespread societal issues and on a global scale. It is one that will make the 1960's seem like a drop in the bucket and whether we like it or not it.

I'm not advocating change but I am advocating getting in front of it and not burying our heads in the sand because the latter is dangerous.

Change is coming from all sides, no one is happy.

The Americans are fighting amongst themselves to the point where the federal government has halted. Congress refuses to let the judicial branch function in accordance with the intended function. The UK is now under very real threat of falling apart as Scotland and Ulster are now wanting to leave. No one wants to see unrest in Northern Iteland again but now it is back on the table for the first time since the Good Friday Agreement.

We have displaced populations of people that are the greatest since WWII and looks like to become even larger becoming an unprecedented number of refugees.

It started in 2008. These are still the consequences of 2008 yet AIG and other bad actors are back up and running same as before with ZERO legislative action to cause change in the industry. Sure, the government attempted to regulate and control the banks but the Volcker Rule was quickly shredded apart by lawyers and does nothing. Even millionaires aren't safe. Kevin Bacon and his family were one of the casualties of Wall Street, they lost everything.

Russia is acting out. The West is completely unstable and somehow we all have to come together to correct climate change.

The current trend is separatist not unification. But we aren't leaving in a world where isolationism is an option anymore unless you are in an extremely lucky tiny nation like Switzerland or Luxemburg.

I agree with you. We are all individuals but we must come together and see our selves as human beings and citizens of the world. Fuck religion, fuck race and everything else that separates us. Europe should all be in the eu. South America should move towards having a organization like that. We should unite with Canada. Is that your solution because I can think of billions of people who don't agree with you.

I support the UK's prerogative to leave the EU but they should have been more aware of the internal consequences of doing so. I've been saying all along that this will destabilize Iteland and all anyone would hear is that o was saying the economy but I meant culturally and now here we are.

You're too young to remember the very real threat of the Euro currency falling apart. No one wants to see that. But even if you fuck off economic issues the world is experiencing cultural shifts. You can close your borders but they are coming either way.

This is an assessment not a suggestion.

True, like more of the world is accepting western culture. More and more people are accepting that women are equal to men, that people should pretty much live their lives as long as they respect other people's rights. Look at how much central and South America has chained, or Eastern Europe and countries and Asia. The only countries not accepting it are African and middle eastern countries but that has more to do with religion.

That would be a smart choice, but last time a state tried to leave the union things got pretty violent. The UK is lucky to get out without being invaded. That's a better deal than they gave us when we left.

You're living in a longtime ago. I do believe there are federal barriers restricting Texas from leaving but Texas is as much of an island as far as infrastructure as Britain is from the continent.

I think it is time for Texas to go. They refuse to recognize any federal oversight or court decisions. They are continuously in front of the Supreme Court because they refuse to accept and recognize federal oversight. They keep trying to work around it.

I like your attitude go tell Texas it is time to piss off and put their money where their mouth is. Honestly if you are a conservative this is in your best interest. You just got bamboozled once again by the Supreme Court minus Scalia on an abortion issue because of Texas. Forget Roe v Wade. The shit the Supreme Court just laid down expanded it and made it very hard to overturn.

To clarify, I'm a libertarian, not a conservative. I just recognize that Jefferson's quit is as valid today as when he said it. Washington said that government is force, and that like fire, it makes a useful servant but a dangerous master. He's still right about that.

Small, local, accountable government is less likely to run amok like big governments tend to do.
