I am not that knowledgeable about these issues, TBH, but isn't AIDS also still a problem for gay men?
Sure, aids has a higher prevalence in male to male sexual encounters, but least prevalence in female to female sex. Knowledge about safe sex practices has at an exponential rate decreased the risk of HIV among men who have sex with men, but ignorance of these practices is still a problem. Additionally, when you have kids that are willing to take their own lives because they view them as worthless they aren't likely to care about practicing safe sex either.
But I don't think the fight is over. Some day, Mike Pence will be POTUS. :-P You ain't seen nothing yet.

Thank you. That also fits with a lot of other issues. People that are different from the "normal" or the majority are still discriminated despite laws in place that are supposed to help them.
Not to mention that a sizable portion of people are trying to legally discriminate against them, and this administration is making these ideas seem safer to espouse

People discriminate against lots of groups, though. Fat people, ugly people, short people, young people, old people, illiterate people, smart people... all of them experience widespread discrimination, yet no one sheds a tear or writes screeds advocating their defense.
Quite a lot of people are advocating for fat people rights... That said I'm not aware of any large scale legal movements to discriminate against fight people "for being fat." I'm not aware of any large legal movements stating that illiterate people are lesser/ not deserving of equal rights, I'm not aware of any legislation that calls for the criminality and death penalty for the act of being short.

You're naïve or lacking empathy if you think fat, illiterate, and short people don't face discrimination every day of their lives. A tall, fit, intelligent gay man has a much better chance in life than they do because there's virtually no way anyone will even know he's gay.

Asking to not be discriminated against is hardly asking for special treatment. Were interracial couples asking to be treated special when they wanted the right to marry? Were the blacks asking to be treated special when they asked to not be slaves, granted the right to count as a human being, attend the same schools, be able to purchase groceries in peace, and granted the right to vote? Were women asking to be treated special when they did much the same?
Similarly, asking to not be murdered because of who you're attracted to is certainly not that much of an imposition. Asking to not be locked up for years, or tortured is certainly not an imposition. Asking to not tell our children that you want them to kill themselves is most certainly not an imposition. Asking, no, demanding that you not be allowed to mistreat someone simply because you don't like who they find to be attractive is not an imposition my friend.

The law wasn't the only thing standing between their goals and them. People will always see them as sick, and every sane person is going to try and protect their children from seeing that sick shit at a young age. However, since homosexuality is clearly unnatural (as I explained in the previous comment), Im against it being celebrated and shoved in our faces, mostly because of the kids. Every deviation, including extreme ones like murder, in psychology are always related to childhood events and experiences. But "science" wants to convince us this is the ONLY exception, people are born gay and thats it. Which smells like bullshit. Especially since there were cases of kids who were straight, but sent to an all male/female high school, and after gay experiences there they became homosexual or bi. Young human minds are very fragile and receptive to the environment. So once again, Im not saying gay people are unnatural so lets exterminate them. It's no surprise that Asian/Middle Eastern countries are against it, yet I'm surprised by the Russian statistics.
Why? Russia is known to be one of the biggest violators of gay rights. Chechen, for example, is a Russian province/ state/ principality or whatever and Putin has done nothing to look into the issue of outright and usurpation of rights. Particularly the torture and execution by the state's armed forces.
Maybe the lgbt community would find more acceptance if they would stop trying to not just normalize their lifestyle rather cram it down the rest of societies throats.

Regardless of the social and biological factors it appears that sexuality is "locked in" before the age of 5. Long before any meaningful choice can be made.
Attraction isn't a choice. I no more pick who I'm attracted to than I pick what my favorite color it. I can lie, and I can refuse to paint with my favorite color, but that doesn't change the fact that it's my favorite color.
Whats more I see no reason why it should be fought against. It's natural, doesn't harm anyone other than those involved (and even that is dubious at best), and acceptance of it can in fact be a good thing (for example lower teen suicide rates).
