Yes, I still Believe In Fairy Tales. You Should Too.

I still believe in fairy tales.

Yes you read right.

Yep.

I believe in love.

I believe in dreams.

I believe in miracles.

I believe in eternity.

In heaven.

In friendships.

In human kindness.

In spirit.

In connection.

But life doesn't always have happy endings!

It is not about the happy ending, guys.

It is about the middle, the love we had and lost.

It is about the memories, we made.

The honoring of our life.

The respect of our past and the belief in our future. The belief in what we will acheive.

That is what fairy tales are made of.

This is what fairy tales are all about.

Yes, I still Believe In Fairy Tales. You Should Too.

We all believe in the impossible at some point in our lives. I've believed in Santa Claus, in Cinderella's fairy godmother, in the fairies of Sleeping Beauty, in the wizardry of Harry Potter. I still do actually. I've since stopped believing in the reality of each one, but I don't think I've quite given up on the idea of magic. And I don't think I will.

I know the idea of fairy tales can be controversial. There are those who are hardened by life’s sorrows, and who look with disgust on the idea of fairy tales because it might make a child believe in the kind of happiness that is unattainable.

I agree, Fairy tales seem childish but in reality fantasy is a state of mind that can be made real if you believe hard enough. Achieving what most believe is impossible, is done by those who don’t believe in impossible but rather believe in fairy tales. Their thoughts are not about failure but rather success and how to obtain it. Successful people move forward eliminating all negative thoughts and disregarding the comments of those that say it can’t be done.

Of course, you're probably wondering what any of this has to do with fairy tales.

When we read news articles about people living in constant fear for their lives and terrorist attacks in Paris, Syria, Baghdad, Mali and Beirut, why would we spend our time reading Snow White? I'll tell you why.

I don’t deny that sometimes fairy tales seem trite and silly in comparison to breaking news. C.S. Lewis, the author of the "Chronicles of Narnia,” once said that “someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.” Eventually we will realize that fairy tales hold an important place on the shelves of our lives.

Fairy tales hold truths that we, as adults, tend to forget in our callous, disillusioned lives.

No, I’m not claiming that fairies exist, but I do believe that fairy tales tell us truths about kindness, hope, and love that we often forget as adults.

I can’t give up fairy tales because they are the core of reality. Yes, the core of this reality in which we live that, as we read the headlines in our papers or face the stresses of life, seems so very non-fairy tale like. Yet the truth is, there is an awesome undercurrent of reality that breaks forth at the most unexpected times, sometimes as just a tiny glimmer of joy, but a glimmer nonetheless, that reminds us we are not destined ultimately for life under the curse. We are very much in the process of a fairy tale.

Don’t stop believing in a beautiful life because sadness has taken away your dreams.

Don’t stop believing in perfect days.

Don’t stop believing in funny moments.

In dancing in the middle of the night because you felt like it.

The finding of the fairy tale is when you least expect it. You'll find yours too, one day.

All love,
