The trick is that you think Hungary faces similar problems as Western Europe and the US. The reality is that we are facing radically different problems. Immigration is the umpteenth biggest problem in Hungary - the top problems are without a doubt the drastically underfunded education, the irresponsible redistribution of tax money, the corruption of the political and economic elite, unemployment, lack of national investments, low GDP, low birth rates, etc... I could go on. The reason Viktor banned gender studies courses and struck down harsh on migrants and Islam is because he flipped the bird to the EU long ago by building relations with the Russians. I bet you didn't know that Viktor Orban and his party are responsible to the single greatest gerrymandering campaign in the last few decades, if not half a century. The guy literally rearranged the voting districts in a way that with the exception of two cities every district chose him - with an approximately 51% majority, everywhere. The voting system is more complicated, but let's just say taht with this little trick, he can overwrite the country's Constitution whenever he pleases - like he did a few years ago in over 100 occasions.
