I was inspired to write this because of a question posted on GAG

Getting over rape?

The response of some of you girls was truly touching. I wanted to thank you all so much for helping support her. I saw females I know who can not stand each other stand beside each other. It was beautiful and I'm so proud of all you girls. I always said GAG had the best girl's but now I'm positive they do. THANK YOU!!

The reactions from the men was also uplifting and showed true kindness in them. It showed a kindness often not expressed or often overlooked. Thank you to the men that I reached out to also, a few great guys also helped me round up female friends and

I also find a few to be kind of… legitimately harmful advice.

- "Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition"
I'd like to interpret the word "equal" here as meaning to act the same as, but I honestly think the quote was intended to be misandric.

- "Only do what your heart tells you"
This is just bad advice. Heart is an allegory for our own personal beliefs, interests and needs, so swap it out with that and you get "Only listen to your own beliefs, needs and interests". The quote was probably intended to coax people who don't believe in themselves into believing in themselves more, but that doesn't make the quote any better.

- "A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That's why they don't get what they want."
I want to interpret this as "speak up" and to make your voice heard, which is fine, but the second sentence implies that the solution to getting what you want is telling people what you want - "that's why". We should be encouraging people to work for what they want, shouldn't we?

- “True beauty is a woman using her platform to inspire, empower and uplift other women”
Why women? I'm not trying to be annoying, I just don't really get it. Maybe the quote would be more helpful in a culture where women face discrimination to a far higher degree, but even then, I personally think true beauty is you being confident in being you while being the best person you can be. Uplifting and empowering other women is weirdly arbitrary and specific; the quote just guilts people into viewing life as a sorority which I don't think we should.

This quote made me lose faith in 90% of humanity lol. Helping people is great, but what if you as a woman happened to be passionate about helping men?

I know the purpose of this page was to spread good vibes, but we shouldn't ever be dishonest with ourselves. And before I'm accused of cynically over-ananlysing these, the only over-analysing I was doing here was to come up with better interpretations than the ones that initially jumped out at me. I just don't think a lot of what's being said here is healthy or at all realistic, especially the stuff about it telling us what a woman's duty is OR ELSE.

Many of these are okay, but there are a few I take issue with.

"Only do what your heart tells you." First of all, I don't really see how this would be specific to women. Second, the heart can both deceive and be deceived. The heart must be guarded, well-formed, and INFORMED.

"When a man gives his opinion, he's a man. When a woman gives her opinion, she's a bitch." I only ask out of curiosity, but how is this supposed to be inspiring? If anything, it seems like it would be more a source of frustration than anything else.

“Whatever you do, be different – that was the advice my mother gave me, and I can’t think of better advice for an entrepreneur. If you’re different, you will stand out.” My response to this one will be long. Why should someone be different just for the sake of being different? We were all born different. We all have our own unique experiences and traits. So what gives? Just own who you are, within legal, moral, ethical, and rational boundaries.

Sure, standing out and being different is good and necessary when you're pitching a business or product or applying for a job, but don't go thinking I'm some hateful and judgmental jerkwad just because I'm not rushing to be friends with a dude wearing skin-tight jeans, curly purple hair, and a lip-piercing for no other reason than, well, he's wearing skin-tight jeans, curly purple hair, and a lip-piercing. Don't think that I'm narrow-minded just because I might look at that and think "Okay, whatever". I'm going to be friends with someone because we have common interests, I enjoy their company, and they build me in virtue.

Plus, from a practical standpoint, "unique" and "special" aren't necessarily always good things. When I was in basic training, our drill sergeants told us "If you want special treatment, you'll get special treatment." Do the math.

"Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition." I agree, but not for the reasons that most people might think. One cannot give or use what they do not have. If a woman spends her time and effort trying to prove herself as equal to a man, she has wasted her time and effort in embracing and exceeding in womanhood, her feminine identity. Maybe I'm looking at some of these quotes too rigidly, but that's what comes to mind when I see some of these.

Women's power lies in their femininity and sexuality. This whole idea that women need to compete over power with men, in the exact same way and in the same arenas is just ridiculous. Women have to acknowledge male lead, which is the natural state of things. Otherwise it's chaos and decay.

My whole life I have had to listen to pseudoscience telling us that men and women are basically the same, that sex is almost irrelevant. And that is a huge delusion. For men and women to lead healthy lives, they must discover the masculine and the feminine, respectively. It is a very masculine thing to lead, and while there is no doubt a lot of women can lead, it is not a position that suits them. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. That is something a lot of people don't seem to realise. You should do whatever helps you live in accordance with your nature, and the masculine and the feminine are polar opposites.

@ChloeInABun I have nothing against female leaders but the problem is that today a man who's led by a woman isn't allowed to call out her mistakes out of fear of being called a sexist. This the reason a lot of guys NOW are scared of female managers. If you're abused you're not allowed to complain and I've seen this happen on multiple occasions. I think I understand. Sorry, I am a girl, so I have trouble understanding concepts like this. Last thing I'd want to do is anything to get in the way of your goals. I understand my job isn't to compete, but to help you compete by making sure you have what you need - whether it's emotional support, a beer while you're watching the game, a place to release pent up testosterone from work, or children to make sure the chain isn't broken and we can have more men like you to carry the torch, or more girls like me to be there for them.

Men toiled at work to support their families. 90% of people hate their jobs, they are boring, tedious crap that deadens the soul. The FAMILY is the basic unity, not the individual. I want kids, I want a wife but I would always put my business first because my business is how I will support my wife and kids, how when my wife has unexpected medical costs I can pay for it, when my kids want to learn something I can pay for lessons or school or invest in their company they want to start etc. Women have time and time again on a mass scale proven they cannot do this. They prioritize things over their primary objective, shoot themselves in the foot. For example there are studies that single professional women spend far more shopping buying designer clothes and going on vacations than single professional men. While other studies show single professional men have far more savings (wealth) than the same women. Women prioritize clothes over wealth. Ridiculous.

@ChloeInABun there is a strong likelihood if you jump off a bridge you will die but some people actually live. Id not recommend doing it if you plan on living. Many women think they can have a fulfilling successful career but most can't ever achieve that but then miss out on having a fulfilling family life so if you want a life with meaning and fulfillment id recommend having a bunch of kids and skip the career aspirations as most fail.

Which is basically analogous to "Lol If you don't put up with my bullshit you're not worth my time."
