On the decrease/increase of taxes

My opinion on how heavy should taxation be has always been mixed.

On one hand, I live in a country which always provided public healthcare, public education and public transportation on the other the increase in benefits is acctualy leaving people poorer.

In the US I'm seeing the trend of increasing support for government support, which must be funded with an increase in taxes.

That is good, it provides a baseine for those that can't support themselves, but, it leaves us more and more reliant on the government, and ence, less free, the more dependent we are on our government the more it can dictate our lives.

And providing more benefits can be harmful, due to the heavier taxation, I have only recently really grasped how it is going here, in 2018 the minimal pension for elderly people has been increased by some 40 dollars (30 euros) and to pay that IRS (Singular Person Tax) was increased, and guess what, my grampa was complaining last month that he's actually receiving less per month, with the increase than when he paid less IRS. Like him there is a lot of people.

More taxation gives you less freedom to operate on your daily life, altough it somewhat provides a safety net in case you fail in your personal projects.

As for the public services provided, they are not bad, but they are nonetheless, riddled with corruption and just being ineffective in general. I still think they should exist for now, but I know that to provide the funds to make all of it work efficiently it would require a lot more taxes, and people are never happy with them, since the government provides it they always demand it to improve, the government already pays more than 80% of the costs of superior education, most people that have decent grades can get in, I pay a little more than 100 bucks a month, but still, people want it to be free so that everyone can enter, completly ignoring the fact that, if you prove you are in trouble financialy, you can go for free and they provide transportations and housing for free.

The US has relatively low taxes, and as I see it, you might be better of, we have a million taxes here, we got people earning 600 and paying more than 90 right there and then just on IRS, we then need to add A LOT more taxes that also get in picture after this.
