Cafe Owner In India Who Employs Mostly Transgender Employees

Being Transgender in India is very difficult. Many end up begging or working as sex workers to survive. This restaurant owner came up with this idea after doing research in college about the living conditions of transgender people in India. The name of the cafe is the Third Eye.

This is great, I'm glad someone in a country like India that still has such an outdated view on trans issues and LGBTQ issues is willing and able to do something to help. I just wish more people were like him and willing to do what's right.

India was always 'liberal' in many ways - but the past few centuries of rule have made it the other way. Indians will one day (hopefully) change the outdated laws of the British era.

@jayden888 I just read your post. The imposing of restrictions on society by western influences has created problems in Asia and in Africa. In Korea there is a lot of anti LBTQ feelings because of the imported conservative Christians churches. Prior to these mission churches people coming in people in Korea were much more accepting of different orientations. In one country in africa they have the death penalty for people who are gay. That is again because of conservative Christian churches coming into the country. We in the west sort of mucked up some of the existing good things that were in place already. I'm not knocking Christianity because I view myself as a Christian but what we do in the name of Christianity can sometimes be very unChristian. I myself go to a church that is open to all people of all orientations and gender identification. It is a methodist church.

@supercutebutt Well maybe a minority who choose it not out of necessity. They usually are people who are going to be working more high end or in businesses monitored by the government like in Europe. Most people are doing it because they'd like to eat and it can be a very dangerous job if you don't have someone looking after your well being. I watched a documentary about transgender men in India. It is pretty bleak.

Minus all the obvious cynical bs surrounding it, there is an opportunity for certain people to provide for them and theirs. I like it for that reason. I wouldn't want it to veer off course or become some kind of political front.
