Beirut Explosion- history repeats after Oklahoma City bombing

Yesterday, an explosion took place in Beirut. At least, 100 have been confirmed dead and dozens are still injured in the hospitals. People did stand in queues to donate blood and doctors and ambulances are working hard too.

The real question is why were 2700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored in the warehouse since 2014?

Who gave the permission to store tonnes of explosives in the warehouse?

And was this negligence or planned due to political divisions?

These questions are yet to be answered through an investigation and justice has to be served for the 100 killed, their families and dozens injured.

My condolences and prayers are with Beirut and all Lebanese people.

And RIP for the 100 that have been killed.

3 million have been left homeless

Therefore, the Prime Minister needs to give food and shelter too.

There were foreigners among injured and missing because it was near the Australian embassy which has been damaged too. In fact, 20 000 Australians live in Lebanon.

Many tourists have been injured too.

It's not really history repeating itself because we don't yet know who did this and why. We know who did it and why for the Oklahoma city bombing, he did it because of government tyranny but failed to account for the fact that he caused far more pain in innocent people than the tyrannical government who burned down Waco with innocent men, women, and children still inside and shot a woman's mother with her baby in her arms and entrapped a man for political reasons.
    Is this still revelant?

Ammonium nitrate decomposes, not explosively, into the gases nitrous oxide and water vapor when heated; however, it can be induced to decompose explosively by detonation
    Is this still revelant?
    • 😲 meaning. Someone activated it?
      How does own detonate?

    • How does one

    • @LovingLover let's not teach bomb making here but detonation uses a catalyst to cause a burst of heat causing the reaction

Um... no, not really. They still don't know all the causes of the Beirut explosion, whereas the OKC bombing was immediately known to be a terror act, since they weren't, you know... storing explosives there. They aren't related just because they're both explosions and both bad.

It's nice that you've figured it out already and can make it the equivalent of OKC. Sherlock Holmes would be proud.
    • Shezadi

Are you for real or are you being sarcastic?

    • I'm being facetious more than sarcastic. Your conclusion is based on very little solid evidence connecting the two events at this point, other than the presence of chemicals that didn't just suddenly arrive en masse. With OKC, there was a clear anti-government motive. In Beirut, a motive is yet to be established, if there even is one.

I think this is more similar to the Halifax explosion since it doesn't appear to be a terrorist attack at this time
    This was not a mistake.
Someone must have known that was stored there. Also there should be a chemical storage department in charge of caring and protecting the area around the chemicals. I have worked in a warehouse and every time we had chemical packages we had tons of special procedures for the chemicals, their storage and their transportation. T
I feel sad, and upset. The Lebanese are a beautiful group of people. They have suffered so much the last 100 years. And for this to happen to their largest city is tragic.
I prayed for Lebanon last night, and will continue to do so.

I wish my country was in a better place. We could offer a lot better support. Normally we give billions to israel, maybe we can re-allocate that to lebanon <3

I agree. Bad things always happen to beautiful people be it Lebanese, Palestinians or the Kashmiris. All three races have beautiful people.

I mean it’s not really historical repeating unless it was an attack right? Because explosions with this type of material happens more than you think, and kills many.

It is used as fertilizer, but why the hell would they leave 2700 tons in one place for 6 years. If that is an example of leadership no wonder Lebanon has been having economic problems.
    • we had a huge propane like tank full of that on the fish farm. think at least 500 gallons for creating a suitable fish growing environment. the first thing that they said was don't even go near it

  • That is insane to store that much chemical in one place!!! This was clearly neglect and needs to be brought to trial
  • Gedaria
No , that was a bombing Oklahoma. In Beirut it was accidental. A stupid situation not s bomb.
  • SuccessfulHornDog
That is dangerous stuff and it shouldn't be stored so in a city like that

Did you not read your own sources or something? It was accident, nobody said anything about a terrorist attack.
