I don’t support the feminist movement but I don’t hate women and I view women as fellow humans. You don’t have to be a “feminist” to view women as fellow humans. Here are some women worth celebrating. I’m going to make it an annual tradition to celebrate one historic female figure per year on international women’s day in the same way that I will celebrate one historic male figure on international mens day each year.

And this year’s Woman worth celebrating is… Erna Hirsekorn: A German woman who became one of the few women to be awarded the German Iron Cross second class. In 1945 when the Allied countries had besieged Germany one woman proved her prowess despite women not being allowed on the frontlines. Erna Hirsekorn a German auxiliary service woman who picked up weapons and led a group of Hitler Jugend soldiers in defense of Fürstemberg, she along with the youngsters managed to hold off the red army until reinforcements arrived to drive off remaining soviet soldiers. Nothing much is known of what became of her afterwards aside from being awarded the iron cross but it is most likely that she survived the war. If she were involved in further combat it would have most likely been recorded.
