The red pill is a common metaphor roughly equivalent to "truth", of seeing things as they really are.

It came from The Matrix, a movie in which the main character disconnects from a false reality and enters the real world.

One of the best red pill movies is actually The Truman Show.

Truman begins to discover the truth of his false existence in which he unintentionally participates in a reality show.

The city he thinks he lives in is nothing more than a huge Hollywood sound stage.

In the film there is an interview with the creator of the program, the god of Truman's life:

Reporter: "Why does he think it has taken Truman so long to understand the true nature of his world?"

Creator: "We accept the reality of the world that is presented to us."

Reporter: "If you absolutely wanted to find out the truth, there's no way we can help it."

Creator: "Truman prefers his cell."

He doesn't, and finally decides to take the red pill.

The most moving moment in the movie is him banging on the wall of his big jail, realizing his life imprisonment.

The irony of the game and learning how to have sex is that he sets you up for the red pill.

Men get into the sex game, but dealing with the sheer number of women it takes to dominate it begins to teach you the true nature of women and all the little lies society tells you about the sexes.

The truth will set you free, but the sad reality is that many men prefer to stay plugged in.
