Not in America they profit more from housing them why rehabilitate criminals when you make more profit not helping them and society overall
How do they profit from housing them? It cost more to house them than to set them free. Some political candidates for midterms want to empty the prisons out, including Democrats.
Prison receive government funding because it costs to house them and seeing as how prisoners don’t live so well I wonder where that money is going?
Into someone's pocket. Too many people in government today are corrupt, even our president.
Yep when we had that snow storm a few years back a few inmates died from freezing to death
California prisons, where I have worked as a Prison doctor, are really pretty awful. Boredom is the worst punishment of all.
it actually makes people want to be on death row. just saying
@Alex8736 Yes, I know. Tragic.
They can work, they can read or write, talk, and watch TV if allowed. That is the same thing they do at home.
I worked in prisons where none of this was allowed. California has four different levels of prisons and I worked in the ones that housed the most dangerous inmates of all.
Tell me why people with life sentences for murder and that kill others in prison are not executed? That is crazy to me.
It costs too much and it is very unpopular and it mentally injures the people that do it.
Yes and no, it really depends on the experience the person had in the place but most of the time it doesn’t work. And if anything the person has become more violent due to the environment in prison
There is a 50/50 chance that people come out re-habilitated
Check out the movie Gridiron gang, based on a true story. If people cared as much as he did, it would get criminals not to go back to that life.
The only thing prison does is make the person a better criminal
I think it can, but it's all in the eyes on the beholder.
this...
I think it use to years ago. It's a country club for some now
Not in the US it isn't.
Up here in Canada it's ridiculous.. People walk in criminals then walk out with college/university degrees and what not.. and don't have to pay a dime
Wow, what a scam.
No kidding.. also you can kill as many people as you want you will only get 25 years in jail.. thats a life sentence up here.
If your speaking of American prisons, I've seen it humble people.
Some get turned around, some get God for real, others use the religious con and are phonies, some educate themselves.
No, but it's not intended to. Prison is to punish perpetrators of crimes, and serve as a deterrent to crime.
It doesn't. Its a place to end someone's life without really ending it.
I mean most prisons are state owned but the dummies gotta go somewhere
Makes them better criminals. They learn from others in prison what not to do next time
It rehabilitates the bank accounts of politicians and crooked judges...
Not in America maybe in somewhere like Sweden, Finland or Norway
Generally, no, I don't think so.
Mexican prison is really bad
A lot of prisons outside the US are bad.
I agree that Mexican prisons are terrible but in many ways US prisons are even worse
it's made for people to fail
