There has been commonality over time among dictatorial regimes over history. In the USA, Administrations and their supporting Ruling Classes, AKA THE CARTEL, from FDR to the present; possibly excluding, to an extent, weaker or less prominent players like Truman, Ford, Carter, Clinton and JW Bush, have exhibited similar characteristics. And even then, the Ruling Classes have carried through policy decisions seamlessly without their inputs. These are some of those characteristics.

*Rigged Elections
THE CARTEL stages periodic elections where the result is pre-decided. The leader anointed by the establishment always wins with an unprecedented majority. They achieve victory by stuffing ballot boxes, altering voting machines rigging vote counting and baselessly smearing opposition candidates with false allegations at the last minute. Voting rules are manipulated to facilitate easy rigging and neutral observers are banned. Many believe the election of 2020 was rigged.

*Media Control
The published and electronic media are the propaganda wing of THE CARTEL Every syllable that appears to be parsed donors and the regime itself. There may be a variety of news outlets, but all of them follow the groupthink assiduously. Opposing views are dismissed from the mainstream; which is hounded and fraudulently dismantled. The current news media is saturated with this.

*Persecution of Dissidents
The CARTEL knows that a fresh idea works like a flame that can set fire to an entire forest. They are always on the lookout for the slightest dissent. The goal is to punish dissenters before they gain traction; deterring aspiring dissenters. The prosecution and jailing of dissenters is in the news very day.

*Literature and Entertainment are corrupted Into Propaganda and distracting Trash
Entertainment is used by THE CARTEL to dumb down the population. They become valuable propaganda, generating content to ridicule dissenters and glorify the regime. Even a casual look at the broadcast and electronic Entertainment Industry verifies this.

*Education Becomes Brainwashing
The best way for THE CARTEL to establish conformity is to target potential rebels when they are young. As with entertainment, the academic curricula are tailored to glorify the regime, its approved narratives and denigrate opponents. As the young mature, they become blind and staunch proponents of the preferred narratives. Colleges, the alleged home of new ideas, block opposing speakers every week.

*Abundance of Hoaxes
THE CARTEL knows that the people's minds are best controlled through fear. The ruling Cartel propagates hoaxes and even goes to the extent of staging them as a means of suspending civil liberties and silencing opposition.
Much of the COVID panic has exemplified this.

*Lockdowns
THE CARTEL always fears popular uprising and uses lockdowns and curfews to suspend civil liberties and restrict movement. Prolonged lockdowns have a deleterious effect of weakening the people's ambition and drive. THE CARTEL knows that a crushed spirit seldom rebels against authority. the COVID lockdowns are well knows.

*Targeting of Political Opponents
THE CARTEL always fears populist or grassroots movements and targets opposition leaders by way of propaganda and show trials.
Not only are they parading s former President through the courts but candidated from both political parties are being denigrated in the media.

*A Dummy Opposition
In order to demonstrate their ‘commitment to democracy’ THE CARTEL ensures the existence of a weak, fragmented opposition party; lapdogs that crawl when they are asked and grasp crumbs from THE CARTEL'S table. Where insufficient opposition exists, they create on inflate opponents. Recent examples are the ALT Right, Qanon and InfoWars.

*Targeting of Religious Institutions
It has been said that religion is the opium of the masses. THE CARTEL knows that faith in a supreme being can unite people without fear and provides moral guidance to citizens inspiring dissent. The selective COVID lockdowns of church gatherings and the FBI's pursuit of the Roman Catholic Church are prominent examples.

*Rubber Stamp Leader
In current times it is the THE CARTEL that controls the ‘leader’ who is incompetent, mentally unfit or willingly servile or all three. Woodrow Wilson and Joe Biden are examples; heir strings pulled by the regime. Not to forget the crowd of octogenarian legislators and judges.

*A Permanent Underclass
THE CARTEL knows that financial independence leads to an independent mind; fostering rebellion. They ensure that the masses always struggle financially and are increasingly dependent on government subsidies and vote accordingly. Members THE CARTEL are insulated from these hardships. The intentional creation of Inflation and leading to government giveaways are examples.

*The Entrenched State
THE CARTEL wants to ensure that it is present and can monitor every aspect of the citizenry. It could be a dietary restriction, obsession with Climate Change and land use restrictions are applied. It is also monitoring of communications or financial transactions citing a terror threat. This often leads to self-censorship on the part of citizens who restrict purchased and bank transactions.

*Mandates and Diktats
THE CARTEL subjects subjects to diktats that they need not comply with. Such things a vaccine and masking requirements are examples. So are emerging restrictions on the use of appliances and personal property so as to discomfort the people.

The Present Scene.
Most Americans value Freedom and Liberty; living in a merit-based system without being monitored or judged; the freedom to express oneself without fear of censorship. Almost every feature implemented by dictatorial regimes now exists in the U.S. We usually think of authoritarian regimes rising after a bloody military coup but THE CARTEL knows that they cannot do anything so radical. The changes have been subtle and gradual over the last perhaps 80 years.

THE CARTEL was completely revealed in and after 2016, when the electoral democracy in the U.S. still worked as the people voted for Donald J Trump, a man whom the establishment had tried their level best to destroy. The retaliation for bravery on the part of the voters that began then continues presently. It is up to the citizens to decide what kind of country they want to live in and how far we will go to restore it.
