Is Pregnancy Before Marriage the New Trend in Hollywood?

Remember that old rhyme we used to sing in elementary school?

“[Boy name] and [Girl name] sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes a baby in a baby carriage.”

I know life doesn’t play out in that order for everyone, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, does it seem that there’s a trend of baby before marriage - or even love - in Hollywood lately?

I’m speaking of Alicia Keys, Mila Kunis, Scarlett Johanssan, Ciara, Nicole Richie, Shakira and a plethora of other women. I would name the fathers, but I can’t remember them all.

Why do you think so many celebrities skip out on birth control? It seems like they have more at stake with their aggressive work hours and extensive publicity tours.

Babies before love (and by extension before marriage) were always common because hey, ever wondered where all those royal bastards and biblical commandments about a girl marrying her rapist came from? Because people are fucking bundles of buzzing hormones. It happens today, too. But in Hollywood, that's a different issue altogether. Babies are fucking glamorous in Hollywood. Everyone eagerly anticipated the birth of the baby of Snooki, for Christ's sake, it's an amazing publicity stunt. Also, these people have a much more dynamic social life, they don't wanna be tied down with marriage, even if they want kids. So they just have 'em because fuck it, they can afford it. The actress gets pregnant, plays in one new movie, gets extensive coverage on her pregnant acting (see Scarlett Johansson and Catherine Zeta Jones), gives birth, gets MORE coverage, goes on to create more movies with a couple extra fans picked up on the way. Also, babies are just cute. Women generally do want a cute little bundle of pinkish, shrieking joy if they are able to support it (and sometimes even if they can't).

I wouldn't know, I don't pay much attention to the social lives and procreation of people who live in places I do not.

I don't know if I'd call it a trend, but I would say both with celebrities and your average Joe- pregnancy before marriage is pretty common. To me, marriage is just a ring and a piece of paper. And unfortunately, many marriages these days end in divorce. So I think many people who have been in long-term (or not-so-long-term) relationships choose to have children at an age when they think they're ready for kids, regardless of marriage. Often times if they are in a long-term, committed, relationship, they won't practice birth control and just leave the prospect of kids open-ended because they may feel ready to start a family but aren't specifically "trying" for a baby. I don't think it's anywhere near as taboo as it once was. Perhaps it seems a trend among celebrities because you KNOW they aren't married, unlike that couple with a baby at the supermarket. Just my musings. (:

I just don't like it.. there is a reason for the "family" I know there is no traditional family any more I get it, but there are also so many ways to not have babies... Hollywood can afford it, but modern day woman that work too hard and have no an incredible income can not... that's why... I just don't like the idea or babies before marriage, I like the idea or a well thought let's be a family let's have kids bla bla idea, because if everybody would think about it, then we wouldn't have so may population problems or poverty problems. Sounds weird I know.. but I'm just saying...

This has to be a joke. It's becoming like that everywhere. Especially in America. Look at the single mothers and divorce rate. It's highest so far. Ridiculous

I realize that it's going on everywhere, but it just didn't seem as common among the celeb crowd until recently, or at least, I didn't notice. Guess celebs are just normal people. The divorce rate, all around, is definitely sad to see.

I'm not sure but I recently read an article about how Justin and Jess. want out of Hollywood. They said they can't stand how obnoxious Hollywood kids are. They want to move to Justins hometown, Memphis, to raise their children
