    1. White people wear weave just as much almost. Extensions are weave. Also, our hair is only short most of the time because our hair doesn't produce oil to make it grow as rapidly as others. Most non black people have just as much or even more damaged hair than us to be honest from dying and straightening their hair a lot.
    2. I hardly ever get angry. Anger is obviously a thing amongst all people.
    4. The daddy issue correlates with slavery a bit too. Slave owners wouldn't take the strong slaves from plantation to plantation to impregnate women and move on so after they were free, the act generally stuck, but abandonment does happen everywhere.
    5. Never heard the high standards one tbh.
    7. I've actually heard the opposite.
    8. I pretty much always made Straight As
    9. I've seen plenty of skinny blacks and overweight people evrywhere else but genetically, weight gain is just easier for blacks plus a lot of whites statistically have eating disorders to stay skinny.

Genetically, blacks do hold on to fat more, but the lifestyle can be the same and genetically, they gain weight differently. I eat the most out of my family yet I'm the tallest and skinniest. I also don't work out. I got lucky with genetics but typically, fat does store is for certain blacks due to generational feeding patterns. @Hannah591
Really genetics, lifestyle, diet, and health conditions all play into weight.

I've heard nearly all of these but most people don't actually believe it. It's nice to think there aren't that many ignorant people who realise stereotypes are just stereotypes and that they don't apply to all. Those stereotypes didn't appear out of nowhere though, they usually have a factual base, just like most stereotypes so no-one can completely deny their existence.

Regarding #3... I wouldn't mess with a black woman. As nice as many are that I've met, they sure as shit know how to snap on people. I have seen a few episodes of Maury and feel terrified for the men who get involved with that baby mama drama stuff with a black woman. There's just something about a black woman snapping on people that compares to no other women of other races. Take it as a compliment, really, because I wish I had more guts to stand my ground and become that fearless.

Nahh I personally don't agree. Have you seen the white women in Maury? They're just as bad. It's all relevant to what clas they are. Working class people tend to be more aggressive, and in America, a lot of working class people are black

Really? I find a lot of white women on Maury tend to cry a lot. Black women are just, wow - fierce and not afraid of anyone. White women cry and sob and tend to feel sorry for themselves, even when they're the ones being sluts.

This MyTake is very accurate, job well done. The thing that seriously irks me though is that black people are often the ones who perpetuate these stereotypes. Why wouldn't a person from the outside looking in believe these stereotypes if the main black people they see FULFILL these stereotypes?

You're the one who said that the "MAIN" black people you see "fulfill" these stereotypes. I'm not putting words in your mouth, I'm simply acknowledging what YOU stated yourself.

All I'm saying is that you definitely need to get out more. I know SO many black girls who DON'T fit any of these stereotypes.

True in some cases. Black people sometimes attack their own race.

First of all, I'm black and don't fit the stereotypes, so there goes your statement right there.

Second, I wasn't talking about ME. I clearly said "a person from the outside looking in", meaning a person who hasn't really experienced a great deal of interaction with black people and can only go off what they see around them, which is a LOT of people, considering how many segregated neighborhoods there are. If all they see are black people going around perpetuating these stereotypes then what else could they think

I obviously KNOW that there are many black people who don't perpetuate those stereotypes, BUT pretty much all stereotypes have some sort of basis or general truth to it. So many black women go around with the belief that their "nappy' hair can only look decent with relaxers and weaves. So many carry themselves with ridiculous attitudes. Stereotypes can only be truly smashed when people stop fulfilling them.

@HuckyHucky So wait... you're black yet you don't have that much interaction with other black people other than the stereotypical ones you see fulfilling these stereotypes? Where do you live? You don't have black family members

I just find your comment really hard to believe. And I suppose my original comment still stands. you really do need to get out more and expand your horizons especially if you're black yourself.

@Mystique01 I'm starting to seriously doubt your literacy. I CLEARLY stated I was talking about "people on the outside looking in". Repeatedly I have made it clear I am NOT talking about MYSELF, I am talking about OTHERS who have had limited interaction due to segregated neighborhoods and whatnot. Goodness. Learn your pronouns.

    1. I really wish we could go back to the 70s, where black people had a CHOICE to wear their hair the way they wanted.(Afros)
    2. Always angry, not true.
    3. Bad attitudes? All races have attitude problems. We get focused on because... we're great.

That def clears some things up for me, because I def had issues with girls like 2 and 3. I know many black women are very loud and proud, but I get terrified sometimes and I'm terrified, because sometimes the way they talk SOUNDS aggressive, but that's just them talking. I never grew up around a lot of black people so it's hard for me to judge normal talk from angry talk lol it sounds horrible but that's totally how it sounds and I get so scared.

I think that's what it is. I've known black women that are literally white girls in a black body (because of the culture difference) and I can relate better. Black women are usually raised to be strong and independent which I admire greatly.

Black American culture is more aggressive and blunt, than other people's culture. I understand where the angst can come from when it comes to people being a bit uneasy around people of black American culture.

I'm less chronically aggressive than other black guys on average, so I tend to not make people as antsy. :-P

Stereotypes will always exist, whether your white, black, or brown. It's an unfortunate thing that we have to live with. Just remember those who always stereotype fall short of having any kind of intelligence, and they have not fully exposed themselves to the world. Sucks for them! If you yourself try not to stereo type then the world will automatically become a better place. It's hard to change others, but you can always take care of yourself and be an example!

I can relate to the hair one, I remember this guy making fun of a girls hair and literally said "black girls can't grow long hair" I can't believe that people think that. I've also had people ask if I stapled fake hair to my head in kindergarden (this was before I cut and shaved my hair, I ended up doing that to feel normal) It doesn't make sense, any race can grow anything, WERE ALL HUMAN. Just some people can't take care of their hair.

My best friend in high school is black, and I'm white. While we aren't as close as we used to be, because we both moved on opposite ends of the country, she is still my dear friend. She doesn't fit any of these stereotypes, she's so amazing! I'm truly lucky to have met and know her, I love her. Good take, some of these I've heard of and are kind of funny but oh so wrong. Stereotypes are strereotypes for a reason. Because they exist, because people see it, it's out there and stereotypes aren't there for no reason. Whoever came up with the word strep types makes me incredibly mad because it just doesn't make sense to say that certain races have "strereotypes". Someone idealized this and made it a thing. It's not really there. It just exists now. I agree that not all black women are like this because most humans can have these "characteristics"!

Nice take, it is good to sort that out. White girls also get stereotyped, like that we always wear yoga pants, sweat pants, hoodies, have messy buns, are starbuck addicts and are rich. I admit I hate all of that stuff, I kinda of like starvucks but I have only had a sip of one of their drinks from a friend, and I am no where near rich. These aren't bad, especially not in comparison to your stereotypes. Just know you aren't alone on this one.

I'm sorry, but what was the point of this. We need to just stop bringing up race and move on. The majority of the population in the first world no longer cares about race, and the last echelons of racism left aren't going to be swayed by any form of argument. We need to just bury the hatchet on this and accept that we're all pretty much the same.

Hell, we even proved that there is no such thing as race at all. It's just a social construct.

you can't move on until you directly address the situation and this is regarding to any minority , and there's white people who hate white people as well...
we have to address racism not as a black thing but as an human race thing... and all we have been doing is saying move on, or blow up but the issue never gets resolved
it's like being in a bad relationship, you break up constantly but you always go back to them.. and when you think the issue isn't over and your just pushing it into the background and you're still hurting and all your friends are just like "get over it" "move on"...

@Slimart Then you have to move on. That's why we call it burying the hatchet, you may have something more you're mad about, but for the good of everyone you stop focusing on how you feel and instead focus on how the entire group feels. If we keep acting based on crimes from the past, we'll just keep repeating the past. We had that big direct addressing of the issue during the Civil Rights movement, and what's left over now are the people who are going to hate no matter what. The new balck panther party and the kkk aren't going to change, they're just going to eventually die out. And only bringing up race as the reason for any crime where those involved are a different skin colour will never do anything but split us up and divide us.

The world is filled with douchebags, and some of them are going to use a social construct that has been proven to be nonexistent to say that they're better than others.

Except in most places in the first world, and for most people living there, racism doesn't exist anymore. There are people on both sides who demand that we deal with racism, when in all reality we would only be dealing with tiny groups of unchanging opinions on the far end of the bellcurve. The past was pretty shitty in the US for pretty much anyone who wasn't white, but today you no longer constantly hear stories about racism against Native Americans, Irish, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or German people, because people as a whole decided "you know what, the past sucked, but bringing it up all the time isn't going to change the future".

I wrote it because I needed to let off some steam. Would you like it to stop existing?

@Outofthegrey I can't agree race is a social construct. If you're blood line is 50% Korean, 50% Chinese, you're Asian. That's a fact, plain and simple. You can't say "In my opinion, I'm not Asian" because that's not true.

Me, for example, I'm 50% German, 25% Italian, 20% Native American, 4% Swedish and 1% Irish (I traced my roots.) I'm 80% white: I could claim the Native American part but that's a small portion. I'm Caucasian, whether I want to admit it or not.

I think a better answer is to say "Who cares about race"? That's more like it.

The fact that race is only a social construct is in every single introductory anthropology textbook out there.

Human beings build categories and make distinctions naturally. But there is no biological basis for racial categories and no relationship between classification based on observed physical characteristics and patterns of thought or behavior. Humans do not have separate subspecies or races the way some animals do, and genetic traits like skin color are inherited separately from other physical and mental traits, such as eye and hair features, blood type, hand-eye coordination, and memory. The company line among academics is that “race is socially constructed,” meaning that it is an idea produced by human thought and interaction rather than something that exists as a material fact of life on earth.

There are different ancestries, but those differences in heritage backgrounds do not substitute the definition of race.

Wait. .. what? Racism doesn't exist anymore in the first world? Say what?

You know... it's easy to say just forget about race when your not being reminded almost every single day (whether directly or indirectly) about your race. Sure, race is a social construct built by man... I agree with you there... but to say that it doesn't exist anymore is being very VERY naive. :(

I'm not one to pull the race card, but I'm not blind either. You try driving down the road to your destination just minding your own business while the car beside you rolls down his window and yells out "N**** N****!!!" for miles down the street at you and your mom in the car.

And yet people tell you..."just forget about race"..."there's no more racism anymore..."
      What? o_O

This just shows how naive you are to racism. Sweeping it under the rug is not what solves things. Obviously people do care if it's still prevalent in our society. If it's not talked about, it's not going to solve anything. Take a messy room. That messy room symbolizes racism. A person can either clean that mess by actively cleaning their room. Or they can put a blanket on top of the mess and say it's no longer there. It's still there, but all you've done was attempt to cover it. People think that just because segregation and slavery ended, racism is dead. Ohh no. That is soo not the case. You need to be active in social media, travel, or something because it is definitely still here.

People may say "race doesn't actually exist," but it doesn't change the fact that we still act like it. It may not exist in biology, but it does exist as a social construct and that's something a lot of people are living with. "It's not a real thing" doesn't mean it doesn't affect people.

@Mystique01 Some believe sexism doesn't exist any more or at all, yet I experience it regularly and I get harassed in the street. It's just one of those things you have to accept unfortunately.

@Mystique01 Thank you! I would give you a thumbs up, but I can't do that.

I'm so glad I'm cold enough to cut certain people from my life. I had to cut out some guy who thought these things:

      a) He should be included in the PoC community because his girlfriend's Asian (dude, you're white and your girlfriend's not an MVP pass. Would you even try to invite yourself if she wasn't?).

      b) Creating these communities is just like segregation

      c) Apparently the way we deal with racism isn't right or something.

Basically, he was giving the "why can't we have these things if they do" whiny argument.
