My problem with Riley is that someone who's comfortable with themselves wouldn't put so much effort into making people accept them. If she's happy with her life choices then I'm happy for her. The fact that she's trying to make people feel bad if they could never be attracted to a transwoman, or a transman tells me that she may be insecure with herself. If I were a man, that alone would stop me from wanting to date her.

I live in Boston and we have a good variety of people here. There's an accountant in our office who is F-to-M trans and he's a very happy dude. In the coffee room he chats about his dates with women like any of the guys here do and I've never heard him rant about transphobia. I can see on the faces of a few guys that they don't accept him or his dating women but he doesn't care. Why? I'll suggest that he's happy with his choice and doesn't need our acceptance.

Anyone who gets in my face and insists on telling me what i should think and do is a problem for me. I'll say the same about the rabid pro-lifers, pro-choicers and the like. If Riley walked up to me and started asking these pointed questions to make me feel bad about my choices, I'd want to ask her if she's unhappy about making the transition. Why is it that it's so important to you that that I accept you and your choices? Did my life/dating choices offend you somehow?

I don't think she's being unreasonable-- to me, in her video, she seems less offended by whatever people are or are not attracted to, and more offended by the ideas motivating some of these preferences-- namely, that trans women are somehow not real women. THIS is what she considers harmful, and I'm inclined to agree.

She literally says in the video: "This is NOT saying-- you have to have sex with a trans woman, or you're cissexist. It's saying that you should examine the societal influences on your preferences." Again, this to be seems perfectly reasonable. She's not telling you who to be attracted you. She's recommending that we look at some of the larger issues, and how we contribute to them.

Again, I'm not saying I agree with everything she says in the video-- but none of it strikes me as crazy, as some others have suggested. I think she raises some good points, honestly, and the backlash is kind of a lot, you guys.

I watched over 4 minutes of the video and I felt like that was more than enough lol
My thoughts:
There's people who have issues with gay people just being. I was never one of those people. I always thought "Hey it's their life. Let them live peacefully" But when they're creating arguments to justify why I should date them or else.. THAT'S when I have a problem. Who the hell haven't been rejected before when it comes to dating, relationship, sex or whatever? But that doesn't mean you're gonna force the person to have sex with you or want a relationship with you. People have preferrences. 🤷‍♀️

Don't you have to be biased against the 'phobic' people, to call them phobic for their preferences?

Like what if a trans person didn't want to date a another trans person, does that make them transphobic? If the answer is no, then you'd have to be biased against the other orientations, like gay and straight people, to even call them phobic, since you won't apply that to you or your orientation.

The whole argument that this is reducing a person's worth to their genitalia is the worst, especially coming from someone whose Adam's apple is as prominent as mine. Even with the whole package aside, what about heterosexuals who want to have children? Oh well, I digress.

It reminds me of arguments suggesting that only personality should matter when it comes to attraction, as though outward appearances don't contribute whatsoever to sexual attraction. We might as well all become blind bisexuals in that case.

I thinks people should be allowed to have their sexual preferences without being labeled as transphobic, racist, xenophobic etc. People have features they are attracted to and features they finds turn off. It's not people's fault they doesn't find something attractive. I for instance prefer slim and fit people, and finds obese people unattractive.

a guy who knows he is a girl can't change the fact that i love the form of a woman the real form not just a few cosmetic changes. and i have guy friends who are like this, but i know what i like..
