So, my curfew is 8:00-8:30 i know people younger than me and they don't have such a early curfew like I do. Basically if I have a job I won't be allowed to work night shift and I'll basically have to go home at 6 or seven at night even though I don't mind being out at midnight hours but I'm told because I'm a female I shouldn't be out alone at night, never. So guys can be out late as long as they want but girls and women have to be in the house and in bed by 8:30?

Well i live in a place where many bad people hang out at night (i am not kidding about this one. We keep on hearing about their crimes in the news and they are really just some random teenagers or even adults who have no futures and they have all the readiness to get involved in crimes). So yeah i wouldn't allow her to do that because i dont do that myself UNLESS i am going somewhere safe (like someone's house or a place where that type of thugs is not present). If i lived in a different place where its safe at night then i wouldn't mind it.

That’s kind of insane. I’m 18 and I no longer have a curfew, haven’t really since I was 16. My parents are still very concerned about my safety, but they’re practical about it. If I stay out I have to uber home, not train or bus. I’m also allowed to do what I want at night as long as I tell them (for the most part) where I am and I’m with a group. I used to work until 11, but my parents would always pick me up.

assuming, they (your parents) also sleep early, they dont want to be up waiting till late when you get home just to be sure you are safe and sound. You are old enough to be independent which means having your own place if you are unhappy about this situation.

That's crazy. My dad has the same double standard- my brother can be out at 1 am but he yells at me whenever I do the same and he finds out. "But there are crazy people out there!" Yeah, and you risk getting in a fatal crash every time you drive.

Curfew, yes. My BED TIME was 8:00 until I was 14 where it became 8:45. It is safe and I agree. maybe since you are 18 I might extend to 9, but you should not be out that late at night,

@mesachi_06 why so early? At that age you're an adult and can make your own decisions. I'm lucky to have been in bed by 10:30 at age 14, it was usually much much later. I think at 18 especially that kind of behaviour unhealthy form of micromanaging that prevents children from growing up and taking responsibility for themselves.

@lilaqua Because they are in my house and it is not safe. I know kids these days and they are still under 21. I do not want them going out drinking and doing drugs and stuff, adult or not. I would not be that time every night and it is up for negotiation, but the curfew to be home is that.
