Someone tried to call me a liar for wearing makeup. My profile picture has me wearing makeup. This one is me not wearing any.

I wouldn't say lying. I just don't understand why a girl who is as pretty as you are wastes her money to buy beauty products she doesn't even need. It comes across as insecure to me. I've heard women say things like: "I could never leave the house without make-up." I don't think they even realize how insane (and tragic) that sounds. I mean, if it has come to this point, no woman can tell me that make-up is something she's simply having fun with. It has become an obsession... a drug almost. Like someone who might need to sniff some cocaine before they can leave the house in order to feel confident and energetic.
Don't get me wrong... women can do whatever they want. I'm not here to tell anyone how to live their life. I just wish women were more confident about themselves and didn't give in to the social and media pressure that expects them to look a certain way. This works a bit like vegetarianism: as long as only a few people do it, they'll be stared at. However, if all women decided to stop wearing make-up on a regular basis, it would quickly become a normality and the rest of society would have to simply accept it.
By the way: I'm not saying you should never ever wear make-up. I think it can be cute to wear it for special occasions. Birthdays, weddings, graduations, you name it.
However, I don't think it should be this thing you do in your everyday-life... almost like taking medication. And I think it is absolutely fucked-up that companies in some countries expect women to wear make-up at their job. Luckily, that's something we don't have in my country.
Ah we have that in my country. However I understand your point of view on this subject, and I find myself agreeing. I however am not obsessed with makeup. I usually just wear it practically (a little powder for oily skin) I actually enjoy makeup because it's my form of art. I can go into the backstage area and turn someone from a normal human into a fae. It's so fun to do outlandish designs.
Yes, that I understand that. I imagine it must be fun. In this sense, I often think how unfortunate it is that society doesn't allow men to use any make-up. It's strange how something so neutral as putting color on your skin somehow turned into a "feminine" thing.
I have no idea where the stigma of men not wearing makeup came from. Makeup has bee around since faces we're a thing. Ancient Egyptian men wore makeup.
And look what happened to them. At least 6 different states described Egyptians as a slave race with effeminate men.
While wearing makeup may seem innocuous enough or something "fun" even, the question must be asked "what do women gain from wearing makeup?" and the answer is simple: to attract social favor more readily and easily, by applying some facial powder and lipstick.
It is not wrong to call wearing makeup deception, because you can use it to conceal a lot of defects and many people are correct in pointing out that any rapport achieved while wearing makeup is effectively increasing ones sexual viability under false pretenses. If makeup did not so effectively increase women's attractiveness, then there wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar "beauty" industry dedicated to the practice.
The flip side of the coin is that men do not have the luxury of being able to use something like makeup as a crutch to increase their marketability in a socially-acceptable manner, they have to earn it the hard way--by making lots of money, being socially-knowledge and having an interesting/charismatic personality, working out or all of the above.
I can understand your view on this subject. However it's becoming more and more acceptable socially for men to wear makeup. In fact when it comes to certain events I've applied makeup to men myself.
You don't look that much different without makeup. Anyone who says you're 'lying' has their own issues and is honestly just being a dick. Everyone knows that MOST women wear makeup so it shouldn't be a surprise. What depends on the amount and how it's applied. A bit of concealer to cover that nasty pimple, rosacea or dark circles from a late night? No problem. A person's skin problems do not negate facial structure. Neither does me adding blush to my pale ass skin. Now intense contouring to change your face shape and bone structure? Very different story.
I agree with your view on the topic.
If when they take it off they look like a totallllll different person, yes. But if they just wear some to highlight their features or make their skin look better and still look the same, just a bit better or whatever, nope. It's fine
I can't see your pfp but if you were lots of makeup at a point were you look completely different from you without, then yah you are but if you were to wear some mascara or eyeliner a bit for special occasions lets say then its ok
ah nvm you look really pretty in both but you don't wear to much so its ok
Ah thank you and ur really spot on. I usually only wear makeup for practical reason, ex. Powder for my oily skin, etc. The only times I wear full face makeup is for special occasions and photoshoot, or when I'm on stage.
that's fine then.. I don't know why that guy called you a fake he's probably stupid or something since he clearly doesn't know what he is saying smh
That depends on the amount of makeup you're wearing. If you're only wearing a small amount, then you're not ''lying''.

Guys know that girls wear makeup so there is nothing deceptive about wearing it.
In your case, you really don't need make up. You are an extremely attractive young lady without makeup.
Do you, by chance, live in the North Florida area?
Lol no, I'm a few states away in the land of corn, beef, and red. 😂😂😂
Your user name made me think you might be near Jacksonville.
Nah Jaguar was the name of my cat, and 18 is the day I was born on.
Got it. Your "without makeup" picture is really very stunning! You need to toss all of the makeup in the trash can!
Lol I can't though, as I'm a performer. Kinda need it to not look like a ghost on stage. 😂😂😂
What kind of performer?
I act in play and musicals. Nothing major more of a hobby than anything.
You sing?
I do, I sing, dance, I've been on and off stage my entire life.
I'm particularly fond of dancing, I know many kinds of dance and I enjoy them all.
I ply piano and sing tenor in my church choir. I have been asked to sing a few times at a restaurant that I frequent but I have never done any professional performing.
Ah that's cool. I love playing piano, I used to perform at the quest center way back when it was still called that. 😂😂😂 God I feel old now. 😅
Right, grandma! :) :) :) You want to hear something about feeling old?
Sure
One day, you will be there. You'll look back and ask yourself, "How did that happen? I don't feel any different today than I did 40 years ago." And then you will realize that everyone who came and went before you had that same experience, that same realization.
Lol I've already had a similar experience. One of those where'd the team go moments. It's why I believe age is just a number.
Yes, people want to focus on how different they are and they focus on those differences, especially with people who are much younger or much older. My favorite quote: "Never fprget
Whoops!
"Never forget that you are absolutely unique. . . just like everyone else!" -- Margaret Mead
Some girls are just amazing with make up too. Sometimes make up is bad for them, I do like light make up on any girl even if I like natural more.
It is also extremely pointless to call you either do a make up or not. When I empathy as a guy, it is either a girl who is jealous of your looks and called you are wearing make up, not that beautiful. Or it is a guy who wanted to see more photos of your. Just ignore them I would say. If you like to make up, if you feel to, you should do it. For example, I wouldn't change the shape of my hair just because others wanted, because I wouldn't feelcomfortable.
About yourself, you are pretty.
Ah thanks. I'm not insecure about much, but I posted this question because a guy came up to me in public and started screaming that I'm a liar and a fake. I was only wearing a little eyeshadow. 😅
Well you can't deal with anyone having mental or eye issues:)
It is *kinda* yes a deceit, the level of which varies depending on how the makeup is done. Any way you look at it, you are changing your face's appearance. It's somewhat like wearing a mask.
Don't get me wrong here, I'm totally pro makeup. I think all women should wear it, because it's just awesome.
At the same time, everyone can see that you're wearing it. It is wearing a mask, but "what you see is what you get". It bumps up a woman's attractiveness--but, the guy actively benefits from seeing that, because, hey, it looks good.
As long as you don't change your facial features with makeup--*enhance* your features, instead of *changing them--I wouldn't call it a *bad* lie.
But, a few women use makeup to basically turn their face into a completely different one. In that sense, yes, I would call it a lie.
No. It's called attraction. And love can't start 'till attraction does, and then there needs to be a conversation.
Guys don't know anything about makeup, so don't ask them. They just know pretty when they see it.
So develop your attraction and social skills. You can do this.
This guy didn't even bother talking to me, he just walked up and started calling me fake and a liar.
Just see it as he’s not your type 😂.. he’s calling you out on ignorance
In some way they are, they're faking their appearance, though I consider makeup to be a downgrade and make people look less attractive than their natural looks, but that "lying" isn't malicious or purposely deceitful, it's more misrepresentation of oneself rather than "lying".
This view is understandable.
I'm not saying it is straight up lying, but it's most certainly a way to trick people. And I most certainly dislike that. For the sake of argument, I'll say it is lying, but let me rephrase it like this: I feel that wearing makeup that changes your appearance, and not just covers slight imperfections, are indeed dishonest.
Thank you, I agree with you view on the topic. I can see how it could be lying with highlighting and contouring.
Ha ha no they are not. If they were lying they would secretly hide all their makeup supplies and we would never see them. But anyone who has ever had a girlfriend or lived with them knows that girls have makeup supplies in bunches! They tend to overflow the bathroom or other locations and over time multiply in some organic way. No, makeup isn't a lie.
I'd say it depends on how much make-up. You don't look like you're wearing anything excessive, but if anyone does wear too much, I'd ssy absolutely so.
But it does kind of make sense, the idea that you're hiding your real face behind a "mask."
Yeah I agree, I had a guy screaming at me earlier today for wearing gold eyeshadow. 😅
Okay, I personally think gold eyeshadow is a bit flashy. But still, I respect your right to wear it and leave nothing more than just my honest opinion. He had no place to scream.
But also just that isn't excessive to the point of lying!
It wasn't super pigmented either. It was a shear shimmer shadow.
Sheer*
I'm sorry, I don't know what those terms mean. I've only worn make-up once and it was for a role I played!
Ah it was more like gold dust, see through. Just a hint of gold shimmer.
Oh... Right... I knew that...
I was just testing you, and you passed...
Lol nah ur good dude.
Yeah, I didn't really know that.
By the way, that role was a character for a video I wrote. It was for a TV commercial assignment in college.
Oh that's neat. It's always nice to find another performer.
I think it has a negative effect on natural selection. The facial skin especially around the eyes is very sensitive to stress and nutrients or the lack thereof. Women are being lazy and apply make up on their face to mask their lack of nutrients. Of course we can detect lack of nutrients, especially vitamin E, fatty acids and protein in the strength and beauty of the hair and fingernails. Women of course mask that as well with nail polish or fake nails and hair extensions. All our manly instincts to detect healthy females are bypassed and rendered useless, it has become a very hard task finding a girl that eats right nowadays, especially with the beauty industry creating beauty images that are all but geared towards fertility. So do I think its lying? In a sense it is.
I suppose from that stand point I could kinda see it. However most studies I've read show that those mating instincts, look for long wavy hair, large hips, a little bit of extra weight and large tits. I've never read anything about the effects of makeup on natural selection. If you can find an article about it, I would be interested to read it.
Its just my hypothesis. On the other side make up on women could also be affecting natural selection in the regards that women use it in order to attract attention of men. Its not like women never show off signs of fertility and hide everything all the time. Maybe make up serves a different purpose than just masking.
My use of makeup is practical just like with most of the women I know. Powder for oily skin, mascara to keep eyelashes for poking me in the eye. I use tinted chapstick. Occasionally I'll use a little concealer for the occasional zit.
Thats not bad. Some of these instagram women they do it excessively though.
Yeah, a lot of them look like blow up dolls not gonna lie.
That depends on use.
If it's a light and just a little touch-up, then it's no problem. We all want to amplify what we already have.
If it's heavy to the point of overwriting your actual features to the point that your "after" face looks completely different from your "before" face, THAT is deception, false advertising, and we do not like that.
Sometimes they overdo it, or entirely change themselves with makeup but honestly you look better without the makeup. The overly smooth makeup look makes you look a bit plastic (not trying to offend, if anything consider it a compliment). You look good either way, so...
Thank you for the compliment. It seems we share similar views on this subject.
No. If my mom hadn't wore makeup then most probably my dad might not have paid attention to her and if he hadn't paid attention to her then most probably I wouldn't have existed today. I should thank Lorèal for being there at the right time. Sorry if I spelled the name of that makeup company wrong.
I think heavy make-up is an attempt to hide ones appearance which could be described as lying. Subtle makeup is fine though and I don't think counts the same. If I notice the makeup as soon as I look at you then it's too much. I shouldn't notice it right away if it weren't an issue.
Uh no they are not lying. They are just not telling the truth. Ok, ok, i was joking.
Jokes aside, yea its not lying. Nothing wrong with wearing make up. Hell, I've had make up done on me a few times before. The difference is between using suitable amounts of make up and caking on excessive makeup. Using suitable amounts of make up means i still can easily recognise you with or without make up. But if you look totally different, i call that deceptive make up and thats a no-no for me.
you kinda have to wear makeup or your at a serious disadvantage compared to women who do. I mean I'm fully aware of all the tricks, angles etc... I wouldn't fault someone for trying to make themselves appear better (within reason).
I'm glad someone actually mentioned this issue, it's sadly very true.
No, it's just a way to enhance your beauty I think.
You are correct, makeup is to highlight your natural features. I use it to draw attention to my favorite parts of my face
I don't think it's really lying, but it is hiding your true appearance. Like if I walked around with a 10 inch cucumber strapped to my thigh all day to make a bulge in my pants, I would be falsely advertising aspects of my body to gain more attention or seem more attractive.
This is one of those Grey areas where everyone has a certain take on it. To me makeup is fine, it's not lying unless you have layered it on so thick that I can't tell your actual skin color or face shape. Anything else is fine by me.
I'm glad there are men who share the same view on this subject.
Sometimes. The thing is you don’t know. The more you learn about what makeup can do the worse it gets. Girls trying to defend it by showing examples of how there’s women that women’s natural face can look really bad just makes it worse, that hurts more than helps.
Not as long as it's not overdone. But I prefer natural.
I don't often do heavy makeup unless it's for a photoshoot.
LOL even if they try to hide their unattractive face that is still not the same as lying
Thank you!!!
Not really, wish you added a "Kind of" option. Of course it's not what they naturally look like but it's not a lie. I think if you are pretty, you are pretty with our without makeup.
I always prefer the natural look, but I believe women use it to please them selves. Not to intentionally fool someone other than self.
Soooo true
Goes both ways.
www.telegraph.co.uk/.../...-could-be-a-rapist.html
I guess it depend how much you put l. Because some girls look entirely different when putting makeup
That is true, but I don't even wear much. It's just like some guys think that any girl wearing eyeshadow is fake. Like she's wearing eyeshadow she must be wearing more make up. It's not her actual face!!! Ugh!!!
You are right.
Anyway why do you put any ?
You look gorgeous without it
I use it for various things, powder for an oily face stuff like that. I'm a practical woman, I also enjoy using it as an art form, and I have to wear heavy makeup when I'm performing on stage (in plays, musicals) and at photoshoots.
No, I don't see a Problem with wanting to put your best foot forward
I think it looks good and yes, it does change the face but I would rather a girl wear makeup than not.
That's like saying someone is lying to you, because they wear nice clothes, or don't come to the date naked.
If. A girl wears to much make up then it seems she is hiding scars or freckles but if. Girls wear very. Little then it seems more like the real you an that your not tring to hide small scars or freckles or even bad skin
Who thinks that way? You can see them wearing makeup, where's the lie?
Nope.. that's the nature of attraction. The birds and the bees do it too (in their own way)!
no, i accidently voted yes because i misread the question, but no I don't think they're lying. Because nobody is stupid enough to believe a girl has sparkly eyelids.
No. If someone wants to look there best than they should be able to. Now if someone took pictures of another person and used them than that would be lying.
I think the level of make up on some before/after pictures is deceptive but regular non professional makeup isn't.
I voted no, but if your makeup makes you look completely different where you look unrecognizable with it on then thats lying
Depends on how much. Like the girl in the picture. Some take it to such a level that it is totally deceptive and I would qualify that as a lie.
The one in the picture is me, and the picture of me in the robe is without makeup. I told people to check my profile picture for a pic of me with makeup. How am I lying?
To be clear, I wasn't suggesting you were lying. I was just saying in general, all these candydolls with ten pounds of whoar paint on their face. Both your pictures look natural, no deception. Poor and lazy expression on my part. "like the girl in the picture" should have read "I like the girl in the picture" Very natural and attractive.
Ah gotcha, thank you for seeing it the way that most women see it. We all know cake face isn't a look.
Again Jaguar, I apologize. Total GAG fail on my part. I've got to proof read better before pressing enter. Please don't hurt me!
Nah I can't hurt anyone unless they go against my morals. I'm pretty you haven't been abusive torwards children so your good.
Pretty sure*
I find it only deceptive if they use a ton of contouring or something to create the illusion of altered facial features.
Makeup should highlight natural beauty, not completely overhaul a woman's face.
In a sense yes, but you look good without it as well.
Some people don't care if you wear make up tho, since they expect you to wear it 90% of the time.
Wearing make up is not lying. In my opinion we feel more beautiful and confident.
It depends whether they are enhancing their features or just trying to change them
Yes, because they think they are enitled to a guy who looks like them without makeup. For example, if they are 4/10, they put on makeup and now they are 6/10. And then they think they deserve a guy who is 7/10 (makeup + hypergamy).
I can understand this point of view. Thanks for your input.
Your makeup is ok. But those girls who draw a completely new face and think that means they deserve a male model, they are really shitty people.
Less of a lie and really just annoying. I mean, makeup, push up bras, high heals. tummy tuck shirts, Fake eye lashes, hair extensions, fake finger nails, fake boobs. Just really because a case of "You're not the person I married".
Wow I never realized just how much of the stuff I've heard about someone could use at one time. Freaky really freaky. I do use fake nails for special occasions, however I don't really see that one as an issue. I will never have need of any sliming products my metabolism is too high for that. I usually perfer not to wear bras, but when I do they are a push up. I have not reason to fake anything. However I do love a cute pair of heels. However i don't really see that as any sort of deception because they are really obvious.
The high heals make your butt stick out more and make you look taller. Oh yeah! They also mke jeans to boost your butt up. So yeah. LOTS of things that make a girl into what she's not. Just gets annoying after awhile.
The hero with a thousand faces died a thousand deaths at Bunker Hill and Iwo Jima so people could worry about makeup, have an abortion and a same sex marriage
but is that your real features? do you naturally have blue eyeshadow on all the time? NO! therefore LIES!
Im a girl and my answer is yes.. maybe not all, not those who wear very thin makeup.
You look attractive in that picture without makeup.
Thank you
You're Welcome :)
If the truth be told, only because you have absolutely flawless skin. Thats something so rare it doesn't really make sense. You should be taking it as a compliment anyway instead of worrying about being called a liar
I only have good skin cuz I went to beauty school and learned how to. 😂
No, if she knows how to properly wear make up I have no problem with it
It's not lying. The no makeup pic looks better, by the way.
Thank you, most of the time I don't wear much makeup except for a little mascara. My eyelashes grow weird I've got double lashes on the top and bottom. That's why there is a weird shadow under my eyes. They have a tendency to stab me in the eye if I don't wear mascara.
No... like do you think my lips are naturally black lmao?
xx
~ Mrs Manson
Not specifically lying exactly, but personally I wanna see her how she naturally is
I'd rather see imperfections than cover up
That is reasonable, I only wear makeup if I'm in public.
Now I think of it... kinda. It's basically using a real life filter.
Ah gotcha I can see that.
I think it depend on how much the girl put.
If a guy wore shoes that stealthily added 2 inches of height, would you feel he was dishonest?
u r very beautiful i think u should keep r sure its not make up or filter effect
I'm sorry what?
I see wearing makeup as a lie, it's explicit vs implicit. if the world judges others based on looks, then to say " this is me" your making a lie by altering it from your natural look.
It would be a lie if she posted a photo on social media with the tag #nomakeup #nofilters! when she was OBVIOUSLY made up. OR if you asked her if she wore makeup and she said no but it's clear she does. Especially if you found makeup on your clothes after hugging her or something. If she wears concealer to cover a blemish she isn't changing her NATURAL look because she wasn't born with them.
@Nyx_85 I don't think you understand the difference between explicitly vs implicit. Explicit means clearly expressed or readily observable where as Implicit means implied or expressed indirectly. If you ask a girl if she wears make up and she say no that's explicit, if you ask a girl if she wears makeup and she doesn't say anything that's implicit. Both are lies, one is direct the other isn't.
It can be very misleading, when you wear makeup. I saw a picture of Heidi Klum without it. Yikes
Nope only if they wear too much
They're expressing themselves.
You look good
Thank you
