Did your mother tell you why she did what she did? To answer your question yes it should be a crime a very serious crime and I would also agree with many of the others here that DNA at birth would solve some of these issues.
I ended up getting pregnant in a very foolish way, quite certain the guy would never have been interested in hearing that news, plus the fact that I didn't know exactly who the sperm donor was. I only ever saw the guys that one time and never went looking for any of them. As for my daughter I never lied to her when she first began to ask those questions. When my lifestyle changed and I long story short found love, married and one of the first things he insisted on was legally adapting her. There was no fathers name on her birth certificate as I just didn't know who it actually was. As far as these two are concerned they are father and daughter. The one thing I never did was lie to anyone about how she came to be.
That’s heartbreaking.
If the mother knows there is a possibility that her significant other may not be the father then she needs to tell them and get a paternity test. It’s wrong to keep such a secret.
Yeah, but then she would actually need a spine. And people with spines don't cheat. So this is self-defeating, unfortunately.
If he raised you and was good to you, then HE IS your father!
The other person you are referring to was merely a sperm donor. A father does not abandon his child!
yes it should be a crime.
there are bitches on here saying only if its intentional. no, it should always be a crime without exception. and any woman who makes an excuse for this should never be trusted.
i hope this doesn't strain the relationship with you and your father. i mean he raised you as his child into adulthood, so you two are father and daughter regardless of the dna test. i would advice you not to seek out your biological father, i'm sure it will lead to disappointment and may hurt your father.
and i would assume the relationship between him and your mom is probably strained. maybe broken?
100% yes. How women can commit the greatest act of deceit possible and there is zero ramifications is mental.
DNA testing should be mandatory to get on the birth certificate
If you prove it, someone committed a falsification when applying for the birth certificate.
Under Penal Law, there's a sanction for that.

DNA test should be mandatory before you're allowed to leave the hospital with the child. The mother should also have to take a test to make sure she's the mother, too many cases of women being given the wrong baby, a DNA test will stop this happening.
Of course. A lot of women get pissed at me for saying this, but DNA testing should be MANDATORY. And women should be locked up for lying about paternity. There are men out there who pay child support on kids that aren't really theirs, and that's wrong. Of course, feminists won't agree with this.
Yes, it should be a crime.
Side note, if he's been there for you, and you love each other, and he's helped raise you... and he's still wanting to remain in your life as your dad... he's your dad in most ways that count. Not biologically... ok. Who knows in regards to the law... but it still should count. Sorry this happened to you both.
Yes, but I don't believe this should affect your relationship with your father. He may not be related to you by blood, but he is still your father.
A real father figure that is not related to you beats a biological dad that doesn’t give a fuck any day.
Your mom shouldn’t have cheated (I assume), but still. Appreciate what you have if he loves you.
1. Yes, it should be a crime.
2. Your mother is a terrible person for what happened.
3. If the guy you thought was your father all these years raised you and cares about you, he was your father in the ways that matter. If anything, leave your mother and stay with him if they split up.
Do you even know where your real father is? If you know then there must be a reason why he left you. Why chose someone who don't even take care of you properly over someone who raised you? In that case, women who adopts new born should be in jail for not telling their child. The only thing is society is just tolerant of women.
Of course it should. Not only your mom cheated on him, but she lied too. Now I think he considers you as his daughter anyway, but let's be real, you're not, and that will haunt him. And that will haunt you too, since at some point, you'll start wanting to know who's your biological father.
Why do women ruin everything in a man's life. So fucking immoral.
that's awful. he is your dad, just not birth dad. ut that is still hurtful. maybe mom didn't know or didn't care to know...
sorry, I hope works out and you grow closer. now you have a new dad somehwere... how do you fee?
Was a fraud perpetrated or was your mom just sleeping with several people and unable to determine paternity at the time so she stayed with the one who stayed involved. does this change the dynamic of your life in any way?
Yes it's a crime.
The parents are the ones that rise the kid. Your mother is your mother and the your father is still your father. Only their relationship will change but yours shouldn't.
Yeah it should be a crime. In my country a woman can just write down whatever name she wants and then that man is the assumed father of the child
I think the dna test should be mandatory. In this case there are 3 victims. You, your father (who raised you) and your biological father.
Every child NEEDS a dad.
Don't do as if adoptive dads aren't real dads.
Don't do as if dads who became dad from donor sperm aren't real dads.
@Guanfei The REAL dad is the person the kid calls dad.
Yes it should be a crime. Men get a completely raw deal in our female centric society. It's time for men to get some social justice!
That's a lot to process.
Yes, paternity fraud should be a crime. I am not sure what the appropriate legal punishment would be.
Yes, the woman should be fined if the children and the fake father feel like they want. The real father should pay as if he had to pay for child support for all these years.
Did you ask your mom who your real dad is?
Yes, apparently some random guy. DNA test confirmed it.
You know if men and women didn't sleep with hundreds of people this would not be a problem
