1. is in orbit around the Sun,
2. has sufficient mass to assume hydrostatic equilibrium (a nearly round shape), and
3. has "cleared the neighborhood" around its orbit.
I see no reason not to. It would be weird for example if you had several "planets" in the same orbit. Definition in cosmology are still a work in progress.
Absolutely. It's a Kuiper belt object, and not even the largest.
Eris, a dwarf planet, is larger than Pluto.

It was classified a dwarf planet, but did it ever get changed back to full planet status?
Pluto got discovered because astronomers were looking for a planet that pulled Neptune's orbit off course (Pluto of course is far too small to be able to do that).
The disqualifying factor for Pluto (#3) is a scapegoat for some unknown reason. Doesn't it stand to reason that Mars and Jupiter should be down graded as well? I mean, the Asteroid Belt is in closer proximity to those planets than the Kuiper Belt is to Pluto.
Let’s compare the planet Mercury to Pluto
Mercury has no atmosphere and no satellites and no geologic activity of any kind where as Pluto has an atmosphere, five satellites and has glaciers that as far as we can tell do still move
I'm with Gus on this one, it's messed up what happened to Pluto.
I don't think its bad I just don't think its good. Its rather vague.
Nope, bring Pluto back
Does this really matter. Is this a penis size question, it's no good if less than 6ins...
It's not a size question Sir. But thank you for your response.
