Became a misanthrope due to living in the Southern United States, is it normal?

I haven't had any real friends since I moved to the militantly conformist, shallow, pedestrian, philistine Southern United States.

I've not only gotten used to it, but I prefer it that way now. I'm much more focused, and don't need nor like having other people around. Living in the south has turned me into a total misanthrope.

Same!! I live in South Carolina and I came for the beach but damn, people suck here. I avoid them as best as I can.

The South is generally the place where you will find the nicest Americans. When people rate the friendliest cities in the USA, typically 8 out of the top 10 will be Southern cities. So if you’re having issues in the south, good luck anywhere else. People will eat you alive.
