Yes its very fair. Most of us will pay upwords of 30% in payroll taxes and imcome taxes. Some making 400k doesn't pay full SS tax, can't deduct a boat load of stuff you can't. And by the way... when they pay income tax and say they are in the 28% tax bracket, they aren't paying 28% of 400k... the brakets are stepped. So say first 30k is 15%... then say the next 30k is 18%... etc etc... dont be swindled by the rich saying they pay to much. They have the most to benefit from society.
by the way... I am the guy who pays those kind of crazy taxes. Shit ain't free.

Matter of opinion I guess. If you charge 30% two people that don't make a whole lot of money they'll have even less. However if you charge 30% to people who make a whole lot of money they'll still have some left over, and the government gets its taxes.
