Why is it rude to ask a woman her age but no big deal to ask a man? What if she looks really young and he is trying to make sure she's legal?

It might be rare but there definitely are some 30 year olds that can pass for 17.

My oldest brother doesn't like getting asked about his age more than me. The younger brother couldn't care less but seriously what's with the double standard? Personally I don't think it makes sense but if you could explain I'd appreciate it.

The answer is simple if you think about it. In dating age is not a woman's friend, but it actually is for a man. On average, a woman is at her peak desirability at age 18 and it goes downhill from there, and the trend accelerates after age 30. Men, on the other hand, reach their peak desirability at age 50.

Most people don't believe my age until I show off my drivers license proving it. If i have been talking to you for a bit I dont mind but some random stranger on the internet asks me and I always get a little hesitant because they just seem to lump sum me into a category because I am over 40.

It is not rude to ask a woman her age in my country. Japanese women are usually older than they appear. I am sure that my mother would have her id checked for purchasing cigarettes in the USA or the UK and she is 35. She gets mistaken for my sister a lot.

The idea is that getting old makes people less attractive (which is, ultimately, true) and that the most important thing a woman has is her attractiveness (which is, ultimately, utter horseshit). Men are seen as having value in what they can do, rather than how good they look doing it, so it's not really an affront to them in the same way. It's still a deeply dehumanizing attitude towards both sexes, though.

I don't think there is any problem with asking a girl about her age. There is no rule about it anywhere that you can't ask a girl about her age. Those are nothing more than just social media bullshits.

I asked her age a few times but it was never a secret. She was 10 years younger than dad. She was also his second wife. Never met or even saw a picture of the first! Nearest I can recall, he was the only one in his family to GET a divorce!! As for her weight, I never asked and didn't really care. She was always average and eventually got a tiny bit plump.
