Latin is an extinct language because there's no native latin speakers. People who know latin are people who learned it as a second or third language for several reasons
you are American but you speak English you don't have your own language. Your race is not American. same goes for brazil argentina etc. but our race is the same, our language is the same. our own language. It is never like any other language.
I'm not an American, therefore I speak 1,5 romance languages.
Yes, our race is the same, and it's possible, though we don't know, that our languages are derivative of the same language. Which is why I made the joke.
It's more obvious with romance languages, though, which is why I made the first joke. Also, as a brazilian, I'm weirdly more able to communicate with a Spanish or itallan guy than a portuguese guy, and the only reason is the rhythm and inflection on speech.
They speak a dialect of Latin and some languages spoken in Italy are very close to the original Latin if you check the chart at the end of this page: simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romance_languages
"Sardinian dialects are spoken is Sardinia, one of the 20 regions in Italy. This is an earlier variant of Latin and is in it's own branch, separate from Eastern and Italo-Western Romance languages. There's around 1.2 million Sardinian speakers in Sardinia. Sardinian comes in four dialects including Campidanese (Campidanian), Gallurese (Gallurian), Logudorese (Logudorian), and Sassarese (Sassarian)."

Looking back on my school days:
don't you remember how very boring it is to learn Latin?
Just think of Spanish, Portuguese and French as modern versions of Latin.
It’s kind works like Greenland and Iceland but only with language.
Latino people don't speak Latin. They speak (mostly) Spanish.
Because it's a dead language.
