Tough one. Its hard to decide between the US and it's actions abroad and the Chinese and their brutal suppression of those Uighers and Hong Kong. Then there's the Russian annexation of the Crimea from Ukraine.
I think, the U. S. is on par with the Arabian peninsula when it comes to degradation.
However, some other countries have not even reached a level that would allow them to de-grade.
I agree with you that all of those things are horrific and the US needs to get its head out of its collective ass.
However, I disagree with you when you say Afgans didn't "vote" for US military occupation. When their leadership harbored people who planned and executed an attack on the US and when they refused to hand over those responsible, they did indeed invite war, just as surely as Japan invited war at Pearl Harbor.
