+1 yIt's not so much there are shortages of food (or pretty much anything else). It's that the delivery capacity has diminished due to idiotic COVID restrictions. This is a political decision centered within city and state levels. Then add Biden's unbelievably stupid idea that every company with 100+ employees hafta get a shot bulshit, and that just exacerbates the problem, rather than helping it.
Can't drive the truck (by yourself) unless you have a negative COVID test. Can't work here unless you get the shots. Hafta wear a stupid useless mask - all the time, including while driving. Oh yeah, because the numerous of cases are particularly high, we want you to stay home because we're limiting our exposure to COVID.
Our farmers still grow the food. But if you don't get it delivered or it's kept frozen, there's going to be spoilage. That's a 100% loss of product by the middle man. And they aren't going to put up with that either. So they limit what they buy, based on available delivery capacity.03 Reply- +1 y
You and everyone else needs to shut the hell up about wearing a mask. Before the covid was even a issues I was on life support for several weeks. Due to a traumatic brain injury making me unable to breath on my own. I had a running down my throat then split off into both lungs and a tracheostomy. I had another tube running down my nose into my stomach. Most of the time I had a breathing on mask on top of all of it. But people want to bitch about wearying a mask?

@Oigit - I'm very sorry you went through all that. I'm sure it wasn't easy for you. I'm glad you survived that injury!
However, wearing a mask to protect anyone from getting, or giving someone COVID, is 150% useless. As a COVID protective measure, this is one of the dumbest ideas Dr. FUCKI or anyone in the medical field came up with. Unless you're wearing a full face mask covering your eyes, nose, and mouth WITH a good solid seal where you're supplied separate oxygen, the COVID virus WILL get through. Those dumb paper ones and especially cloth masks, including the N95 ones have holes in them FAR bigger than COVID molecules - including the water vapor they travel on! That's a proven fact.
It's like putting up a chain link fence to stop mosquitoes or having a screen door on a submarine. If you're wearing a mask, thinking you're doing your part to stop COVID, you're only fooling yourself. It's like Linus in a Charlie Brown show carrying around his security blanket. It only makes him "feel" good. - +1 y
Remove the politics from it and look at it from a different standpoint: It could always be worse. Imagine having to wear a hazmat suit and respirator suit instead of a mask. There are many people that have to do so as part of their day to day life. Even before corvid started. You can even look at the protective gear that fire fighters regularly wear. All of it makes the masks at that regulations expect us to wear look like a joke. Many political issues and debates start looking like jokes once you minimize the political part of the issue or debate.

There are not enough truck drivers and delivery people to get goods into the stores and there are hundreds of container ships parked off the coast of California waiting to be unloaded. Another labor shortage there as well.

+1 yI hadn't heard that there were any but of the shortages I'm hearing about it is due to the supply chain breaking down. The transportation of goods around. Things are backed up. Things that took a week or two to get delivered may now take a month or two to get delivered. I was under the impression this is due to them not having enough workers anymore... Covid related.
00 Reply The lefties are going socialist, socialist means no gas, no food, no jobs, y’all wanted this shit, you voted for it, here is comes. I have enough food stored to last me ten years, guns and ammo too.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 ySupply chain issues. Not enough truckers and places like California are too restrictive in their Covid measures to allow for the quick unloading of ships.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yWhere are the shortages?
They are nothing compared to what will happen when the US splits into two unions and the Red states control that majority of food and fuel. The blue states will bleed money00 Reply8.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Not enough workers to produce them and not enough truckers to deliver them.

A bunch of lunatics are running around stirring shit everywhere they go, gas prices are the highest they've ever been ($4.00 a gallon here, $7.00 a gallon out west), there's a few psychotic old fools in charge of the country, with open borders, there's thousands of illegal immigrants coming across the southern border every day and no place to put any f them, because of high gas prices, thanks to those same old fools, the prices of food and everything else is sky high, murders in Chicago are through the roof because the governor there won't let the police do their job. EVERYTHING is racist!! ESPECIALLY if you're white. The Constitution and freedom are almost completely gone, our second civil war is about to break out... if you've ever seen the movie, "Escape From New York", it's almost like that. You MIGHT want to stay in NZ until we can get Trump back in office!!

Opinion Owner+1 ySeriously, there's not an Actual Shortage of the food itself. There is, however, a Truck Driver Shortage. I can't remember specifically the Average Age of a Truck Driver, but I do know they are in their 50s so they're getting ready to retire. There only Legally Allowed to work a certain amount of hours by law so the companies can't work the Truck Drivers they have more. In other words, they have to hire more. The problem is many Younger People don't want the job and I can't blame them. Your gone a lot and sacrifice a lot of hours on the road. Covid put the cherry on top to an even worse Supply Shortage on top of the Truck Driver Shortage. However, this isn't just about food. There are all kinds of things in Short Supply. New Vehicles were in Short Supply and that's why you saw Used Vehicles making all-time highs in prices. Overall, there's no Actual Shortage of anything. This really is a backlog. I kind of equate this not literally but figuratively like a Jinga Puzzle. There are disturbances in the system. The Covid Cases, deaths, and Worker Shortage are the pieces (which are the disturbances) picked out of the Jinga Puzzle. The Jinga Puzzle itself which is the Whole Economy including Shipping and Logistics isn't out completely, however, its not at 100%.
