No truck is coming to restock it’s been like this a few months now. Even before hurricane Ida it was like this since the storm the shelves are bare.

This is not Walmart shelves - I don’t shop there ( hate Walmart ) I’m at another private owned grocery store now I’ll do another upload showing the shelves there. Talked to 9 employees and they said nothing is staying on the shelves. These pictures were a few weeks ago so these shelves are empty now.

I find it hard to believe it would be forced, but capitalism at work. When demand exceeds supply you end up with empty shelves and inflation, costs going up.

Its basic economics, its why airline tickets and hotel rooms get more pricy the less availability there is.

Although raising prices when demand spikes (say during a emergency) is often frowned on or considered illegal in some areas. Raising prices is what slows demand so things stay in stock for those that can afford them. When price controls go into play, things just go out as fast as they come in and end up being resold by someone else.

This is what happened when the Wii first came out, employees in the stores would buy them put them online to sell for mark up. This is why water bottles go sky high in prices when demand goes up.

We live in a just in time delivery system, for supplies. This is a big reason why we have such high inflation, is the government is giving away a lot of free money, people are spending like crazy... but production isn't going up, or able to keep up.

We have stuff here, but signs everywhere saying certain things are out of stick due to various shortages.

Now don't get me starting on the housing market, when two bedroom houses are suddenly half a million when 5 years ago they were only half that.

Supply and demand, and the inability to keep up... but at the same time, its a great time to be a business trying to make big profits, if the government will allow you to charge a decent price. It is also a great time to be a employee if your in on that supply chain. Especially the manufacturing and delivery part.

Sigh... Look, The people in charge are just selfish and stupid. Sure they are probably kidnapping and raping kids and they probably wish we would all just die off, every whale, every parrot, every thing that doesn't make them the new widget they want.
The sad reality though is that those shelves are empty because people would rather be a checker at walmart than plant a fruit tree, they would rather sit and look at their phone all day as a secretary at an office than raise their own kids, they'd rather eat toxic garbage rather than hunt and fish it them selves and they rather bend over and take it right up their ass than say a word about how retarded our leaders are.
Hell, im just one guy and I can't even get a girlfriend let alone married, so frankly your on your own. I hunt, fish and garden and keep my own health up but im not putting out any extra effort for a nation where I can't even get laid. Im going to sit back with my beer and watch it burn! The story goes that because some people are hoarding, they buy up too much food and then the people deciding where to send food shipments have sent the wrong amounts out so maybe your town store has very little but the next town over has too much. Same is happening with building supplies.. it's practically impossible to build stuff in many parts of the country because the product prices are too high on some things and just unavailable for others. Corporations are creating their own stockpiles of emergency parts/goods so that reduces what's available on the market.

Of course the people who laughed at everyone preparing for emergencies aren't going to be laughing when they can't find any food.

My closest grocery store has been out of capri suns for over a month. Not that capri suns are essentials, but the empty shelves are blatantly obvious.
