      You're a gender and I'm a sex? That's weird.

Did you mean you're a male and I'm a female? That's possibly true, though I've never had my chromosomes tested. But the same could be said of a zebra, ape, giraffe.

I think you're confused. Saying gender isn't binary doesn't mean there's less than 2. It means there's more than 2. There's still males and females, there's also an in-between. There's lionesses with male characteristics, all Clownfishes are born hermaphrodites, some birds have asexually reproduced, male seahorses get pregnant and give birth, both male and female spotted hyenas have testes and penises. Also bilateral gynandromorphism has been witnessed through various species, which is where a organism is essentially split down the middle one side male one side female. Half male butterfly half female butterfly.

Red heads are not a gender, and they are not even in the same alley. That's like saying Albino is a gender when it's not because a red head and an albino person still come out male or female. Your little fake twisted woke facts don't work here at all

It's a comparison. About 2% of the population has red hair. About 1.7% (probably more) are born intersex or with sex chromosome variations. So ignoring intersex peoples existence would be like ignoring red heads existence.

If you have XY chromosomes, you are born with a penis, your body produces more testosterone, you produce sperm, you are biologically stronger.

If you have XX chromosomes, you are born with a vagina, your body produces more estrogen, you have ovaries and eggs which allow you to incubate spawn, you have a period, develop breast that produce milk, are physically weaker.

There are people of those two groups with physical defects, some born with mangled chromosomes, and then MANY of the newer generation with mental issues.

But the defining biological division as above is how nature intended humans to mate and that division is the only one that works biologically.

Furthermore. Science doesn't believe anything. Science proves or disproves. People can either choose to believe it or ignore it. People can believe that the moon landings were faked it that the earth is flat or that vaccines cause autism or that gender is a philosophical subjection of the human psyche. Nope, again science isn't a person. Science can't a agree or believe. Gender = Sex, both are binary. Saying something doesn't make it true. Your head is clearly so far up your ass it's beginning to come out of your mouth. I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you.

It's not less than 1% even if it was (it's about 1 in 100 births) that's still a lot of people who don't fit into the 2 categories. I don't know why you're fighting it. It's not like I'm saying you don't fit into the categories those 2 categories still exist there's just some in the middle as well

Binary in terms of sex and gender means that you are either one or the other, there's nothing in-between, you can't be one and then change to the other. It's like saying every man falls into the category of tall, strong, broad, bearded and every woman falls into the category of short, curvy, and soft.

Binary means one or the other, yes? You are either 1 or 2. If as you say 99% of people with a penis are male and 99% of people with a vagina are female that leaves 2% unaccounted for.

The 2% which is quite generous is the exception not the rule. The same way that a "normal" human being have 10 fingers and 10 toes , but there are humans with 12 toes or 12 fingers.( they are the exception)

2% could never override the other 98% . By your logic that's like picking a covid vaccine with a 2% effective rate over one thats 98% effective

That's not the point. I'm asking if you think sex and gender are binary (which means you are either male or female, man or woman) and you're saying yes but your example is saying that you don't think that. Doesn't matter how big or small the % is that aren't either the fact that they exist makes it not binary.

The % totally matters. A tiny % just proves an anomaly , and an anomaly is the EXCEPTION not the Rule.

Which makes it not binary. Not everyone is one or the other there's some in betweens. It's like a scale. Sure most are at either end but we can't just disregard the 2% in the middle.

      Reply
    • Razor8

We are not disregarding the 2%( which is probably much less by the way ) . Because two things can be right. Saying sex and gender is binary doesn't mean intersex people don't exist. As I've said a million times on this thread. They are the exception NOT the rule. You're basically denying biology and nature rn because our sex influence our behaviors as men or women which is hardwired in our brains.

Having an exception to a" binary" system makes it not binary. Binary is 1 or 2. Not 1, 1.5, 2. I'm saying gender and sex are on a scale. You are not xx or xy, you can be many in between. You're not man or woman, you can be in between or not identify with either, or you could switch between them. Men who are biologically xy can struggle to grow facial hair and be short (both are male secondary sex characteristics) and women who are biologically xx can grow more facial hair than men and be taller than them.

Im not saying everyone is in between majority of people are on one end of the scale but there's a group that's scattered through the middle.

It's not about trans people necessarily. Gender is socially constructed so it's possible to change or feel like the inside doesn't match the outside which makes it not binary, meaning you aren't one or the other there's a scale.

In terms of sex the binary system is based on the simplified two chromosomes when in actuality there's about 16 variations.

Male and female are sexes not genders. Any animal species can be male or female. That's really only in reference to your biology. But there's variations on those. They're not socially constructed.

Gender is. It's different for every society. Some have more than 2 genders. It factors in gender roles too. I'm planning to do a my take in relation to this some time soon.

No again the terms male and female are referencing sex. Not gender.

      Male:
"of or denoting the sex that produces gametes, especially spermatozoa, with which a female may be fertilized or inseminated to produce offspring.
      "male children""

      Female:
"of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes.
      "a herd of female deer""
