Men on the other hand are obsessed with certain labels, like alpha, beta, omega and sigma male archetypes (yes, before you deny it, most of y'all dudes are guilty of that too).
Why are we so obsessed with labels/signs that "describe" character? 🤔
There were actually a few studies on this, basically people like to hear good things about themselves (Aries are strong, independent, blah blah blah..) And they like to be a part of something. They can ask 'what's your sign?' and instantly know a bit about a person (so they claim) depending on the answer. It can make it easier to find likeminded people, friends, even partners.. Honestly I could write a whole mytake on this, but this is a short answer. I don't believe in that kind of thing, but studying about the impacts it has had on peoples lives and culture can be very interesting. As for the whole alpha-omega thing, that often comes up as a sign of low self esteem, or emotional trauma (they try so hard to hide it)... Or the person is just an idiot.
Yeah, I guess you're probably right. It's about wanting to be a part of something, but it also opens the door to lazy stereotyping. Like making stupid assumptions about someone based on their birthday, and you would be surprised how many people take that shit seriously. The "alpha" male thing, I always thought that shit was corny asf. I believe there's absolutely nothing wrong with being assertive, confident and having masculine traits, I absolutely encourage it because god knows we need that more in society today. However, where some people lose me is when they partake in dumb arguments like "sigma is the new alpha" and "sigma is better than alpha" or "omega is the new beta" like nobody gives a shit. It's fucking stupid. Just better to be the best version of yourself, and stop using dumb names that are vague to describe yourself, it just screams low self-esteem.
