People like this follow all of the rules to a T, get the jab, get their families to take the jab, alienate people who don't including their own family, wear the mask, alone in their houses (as the British government told their citizens to do, even during spicy time) and nothing around them changes, still locked down, still mask requirements, still no stuff on the grocery store shelves, hospitals still full, still getting covid and having to quarantine etc instead of realizing something fishy might be going down, they find it too embarrassing to question what they've been told, so they double down on the lies, even when the arbiters of said lies correct the record ("masks don't work, jab doesn't prevent spread or infection, we comingled covid deaths and non-covid deaths" etc) or when said arbiters violate their own rules by not wearing masks, not locking down etc. They lash out at YOU minding your own business, you're a farmer out in Kansas in a town of 200 people, you're a trucker who lives alone, you've gotten covid months ago and don't need the vaccine... I don't know why they won't. They are all so afraid. But what about the other vaccines that had to have a trial and were tested and declared safe? The measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, and so on that children get? And there's more now. Just because it took a short amount of time to get the vaccine--something that should be applauded--people are skeptical. They'd rather have the virus and possibly die. I know someone who told me that she trusted in God and had faith she wouldn't get sick. That's what my other friend's grandmother said, and died.

@OddBeMe In case you missed it the economy was already destroyed before the vaccine even came out. The vaccine didn't cause people to lose their homes and jobs. And in case you also missed this fact, fully vaccinated people still get Covid and still die. More people get infected / hooked by drugs than Covid.

Hey wait - the economy before Covid was only bad if you were one of the 32% of Americans living below, at, or just above the poverty line. For the top 15% it was pretty good, and within that, it was GREAT for the top 5 %! For the other 53% it was "tread water, acquire more debt, fail to accumulate savings", in other words, business as usual.
Back to the point though. There's plenty of evidence that shows your chances of catching and dying from Covid are very greatly reduced if you're vaxxed, unless you've got some serious comorbidities. Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot of data on which strain the vaxxed are coming down with if they DO get it. But most are much milder, whether it's Delta or Omicron. There will always be a few cases where a vaxxed person gets Covid and it's serious, but the same is true of ANY vaccine.
No vaccine is 100% guaranteed to work on everyone. If someone is against it, they always know "someone" who was perfectly healthy, got vaxxed, got Covid, and died. And if you're against it in your mind, you're also going to negate any science that might prove, or lean, otherwise. That's what people do.

Your article is from September last year. How many have actually been fired?
A quick look suggests it's about 1%, and they're the ones who aparently don't understand medicine. (The mandate, by the way, never required vaccination, so not wanting the vaccine is not a reason not to comply.)
Here's something to look out for: if an article only states absolute numbers, the percentages are probably quite low. "Mayo Clinic fires 700!!!" isn't so impressive when you find out they employ 73,000.
@goaded Who cares about the number being fired when the impact those firings are having on our ability to respond to Covid is what matters? You talk to any nurse and I guarantee they'll tell you that nurses were overworked and overwhelmed; and that was back before the pandemic.

@goaded Ohhh I see the confusion. The number of available beds an ICU has is partially dependent on how many nurses they have to tend to those beds because they can't have the nursing staff be overwhelmed with the number of patients each nurse has to work with. More nurses means that they can cycle cases through the system faster. As far as the vaccinations go; I think people should get them, but I don't think they are effective enough to force down people's throats for a virus that just isn't a big enough threat to most people to warrant that kind of caution and response.
@FilmGuy93 There's no confusion. You can increase ICU capacity either by increasing the number of nurses, or reducing the number of sick people. Vaccinations do the latter far more quickly than anyone can train medical staff.
And people don't get well quicker because of having more nurses, they're just not left to die without critical care.
Don't get me wrong, I think there should be much more spare capacity in health care, but in the current situation, having millions of people being 20x more likely to need hospitalisation than they need to be is a more urgent problem.
@goaded The number of sick people 100% categorically has no bearing on ICU capacity. That's like saying the NFL should reduce the number of fans that want to attend their games to improve the chance of getting a seat.
@FilmGuy93 ICU wouldn't be overwhelmed if there were half the number of covid cases, would they? You could reduce the number of covid cases by half by vaccinating slightly more than half the unvaccinated (and boosting the rest).
I don't know about the US, but in Germany and Austria hospital workers are demoralised less by by the number of patients and more by having to treat mostly idiots.
That's incorrect. Fully vaccinated people can get Covid19, but the symptoms and risks are much less than it is were you NOT vaccinated. That is what the scientists and doctors have found--where you got your source is not correct.
For Christ sake. There are a lot of people out here who have been vaccinated but still don't believe the right to choose should be taken from people. I did my research and weighed my options and got vaccinated but if someone can has found a reason not to get the shot or doesn't want to get the shot what difference does it matter? So many people have adopted this feeling that if I did it everyone else should as well. That's not the way the world works and it's why you have push back. Look at the trucker march in Canada, or Germans protests that have been ongoing. Yet were not allowed to make these decisions for ourselves? If you have faith in the science and vaccine than you should trust it and be fine.

If a person has every other vaccine, but isn't getting the covid vaccine, that does not equal anti vax. Like myself, for instance, I hsd covid before the vaccine was available. My body has successfully fought off and develiped antibodies to covid. I don't feel I need to take the vaccine. And it's my decision. I'm not anti tylenol, but I don't go taking tylenol when I don't have any pain. I didn't get a chicken pox vaccine either, because I had chicken pox as a child. That doesn't mean I'm against the chicken pox vaccine. I'm just against taking medicine that isn't necessary.

I'm fully vaccinated but understand that the vaccine should be a choice and not forced apon people. And lots of vaccinated and unvaccinated people are against mandates. Both sides spread dubious information, but the "right" has raised it to an art form. There are some very good books written on the subject, so if you're interested, try reading something from your "enemy camp". Even with that said, I don't blame ALL Republicans or all right wing people for our country's ills. Both parties have done their share, I just firmly believe the lions share is coming from the Republicans because of my own research, observations, readings from those served in their administrations, and those I know directly in Washington, DC. It's not some random emotional reaction like most people have when it comes to politics. You know that to be true, as well.

I just heard from my sister that an employee where she used to work has contracted the Chinese coronavirus; this person was double-vaxxed. Isn't it odd how those who have been "vaccinated" are contracting the illness and dying like flies, while those who have not (like me) seem to be immune. Funny about that.
