I don’t think it’s a good thing that one group of people can use this word without repercussions and all other groups cannot.
Things to consider:
•What does this mean for the prolonging of the power of this word if anything?
•What precedent does this set for other similar things within society, where one group of people can be allowed to do something otherwise not good if done by any other group?

How do people give this much POWER to a stupid word? It is just a rude word meant to insult people. It is rude to call someone that and if they do a fight may ensue but still... it is a just a word.

In the above, made up example, just people intellectually saying the word as just a discussion... not in the historical insult of calling someone that name as a form of put down... etc. people still go insane. They'd want the fictional person above to lose their job, to be publicly shamed, tarred and feathered, they'd be labeled as a horrible person, there would be a national scandal.
People lose their sheeet as if the most horrible thing has occurred. Some unforgivable, irredeemable damnation has occurred. The first should be dragged out to some secluded field and executed.
It is an insult word. It is mean and rude to say if said with a cruel heart and aimed as an insult but it is just a word. Some sounds issued by the lips. Insane people have made this word so, so, so nuclear and weirdo people have given this word such, such power.
"I used to visit my grandmother when I was a child and she used to call her neighbors fatso and fatty. I didn't like that, I thought it was mean. I vowed never to call people that."
In the above example you'd think... grandma sounded mean... the grandchild sounded noble to not want to hurt people.
Now... the twist:

In this case someone said the magic word. Everyone would pass out, freak out, call this person racist and want them to be fired and to never work again.
Do you see how crazy everyone has become and they bow down to this dumb word as if it is holy.
Not only is anyone allowed to say it, but people should say SO OFTEN that the word loses all meaning. You know, how literally every rapper did so in the 90s? Being afraid of a word - ANY WORD - is pathetic and weak-sauce. Words only have the power you assign to them.
Now just because you CAN say it all the time, doesn't mean you should. I'd liken it to a curse word, like sh*t or f*ck. Yes, words like "the hard R" N-word that GAG doesn't let you type on here should totally be de-powered in society. But I still think it'd come off unprofessional to say it at work or school, just like the inoffensive, harmless "nigga" with an A, already does and did.
But it doesn't matter. Say each one all you want. Words have no power without context. Let's make the hard-R as inoffensive as "queer" is nowadays.

The “n-word” you’re referring to has derogatory connotations. I only use “f**k”, “sh**“, “a**hole”, “h*ll” and sometimes “bl**dy”
In my humble opinion, nobody should be allowed to use the n-word. Just because a person has a higher level of melanin pigment in their body, does not give them the entitlement to use that word. Aren’t we segregating racial groups by allowing only certain groups to use that word? I'm not saying that everyone should be allowed to use it. I'm saying that NOBODY should be allowed to use it at all.
It's just a word to me, but it may not be to others. I always refrain from using swear words that have a connection to slavery or any disabilities. Then again, I'm not black. My opinion on this is trivial and irrelevant.
It shouldn't be allowed by anyone, so I listen to a bit of rap and nig is a common place there and I was trying too keep up with all the slurs and saying all the words at the same times, I also repeated the N word and oh my god I literally had three people shouting at me for it and I'm like it's in the song you two just repeated it yourself. Yeah but I'm black, and what does that matter? The word just means black people.
It's liej the story I heard the other day a primary school teacher was doing a little play baa baa black sheep and the black kid in his class wanted to be the sheep, they recorded it and put it on social media and the teacher got sanctioned. If they want to use it with each other and everyone in the vicinity understands it’s friendly and not an insulting mark, I think they should be allowed to use it. Just like alcohol is bad for alcoholics but a good celebratory tool for non alcoholics when attending a wedding or when taking communion at church. Context, social acceptance and respect are factors for thinking about when something is okay and when it’s not. But if people are offended or might be offended then they should refrain from using the word.
If one person is allowed to use it and everybody is allowed to use it and nobody is allowed to call it a racial slur people can say that it's okay on one hand but then call it a racial slur on the other end it makes no sense to do so but that's what keeps people fired up that's what people keep using to enforce the problem they would rather have the problem than the solution and that just totally sucks it's called ignorance our greatest evil on this planet is ignorance and followers they cannot use their brain for themselves it's really kind of sad
Context is going to be the determining factor on every ruling with individual judgments on a case by case basis. The thing about teaching manners it is a safe broad stocks approach to daily society absent of context. In polite society or jumping in cold, no one should do these things.
If you know whats what and have a basic understanding of every angle around you, people can push these polite limitations. If you don't all you have is your foot in your mouth looking like an asshole. Happens to the best of us.
I think the n** should be wiped out form the English language no race owns a word either everyone is allowed to say it or no one is, it isn’t a good word so why not stigmatize both whites and black form saying it screw the double standard. To me it's just a word. If people want to say it then I don't care. I don't say it in public cause I'm worried about offending others but at my house definitely be dropping the N word here and there

Separating black from white people by telling who can use which words, only gives those words more people and reinforce the racism. No one should use it, especially the black people. This nickname was given to them when they were slaves and nowadays they call each by the n word, how in any world is this right?
it should just be no one. i feel like it's kind of racist if only black people are allowed to say it, since they get special rights just because of their race. it would be better if most people could just agree to not say the word at all, no matter their race.
I completely reject holding people to different standards depending on what color or sex they are. So yeah, if they're going to pull one guy off a platform because he said that word at some point, then you show some consistency and remove everyone else who used that word at any point.

The term is antique slang for black conscripted prisoners from Africa's 'Nigeria'... hence 'niggers' ('darkest' Africa) and has been evolved to be condescending derogatory of someone held down or back by their circumstances. Words don't matter. They only hold the power that you allow them to have. It's all about the intent behind the words. If someone finds offense in any word you say, that's something that they need to work on inside themselves. People are selfish and worry about how it effects them but never the person's intent in saying them.

I find it retarded that some people can't use a word regardless of context or specifically because it's taken out of context. Nigga, n**, n-word are all synonyms, they all have the same meanings. Depending on context, they have the appropriate, specific meaning. Depending on context it can mean a friend, a black slave, a negative stereotype for a black man, a black person.

Everyone should be allowed to say it. Those who use the hard R would be in seriously poor taste. But whether it's ending in an A or a hard R, everyone can say it. Anyone who thinks only some races should be allowed to say certain words is explicitly racist.
To me no one but an African can say it. And it's not my place to judge an Africans use of it. I don't agree with anyone else saying it. Blazing saddles was the exception, it shows the mostly ignorant hick whites using it. I personally would never use the N-word or any other word that could be considered racial slur towards people of colour. I'm white so I don't feel comfortable with it. If people of colour and those who it affects want to use that word for themselves though they can if they like. It can be a way of them taking power from the word and reclaiming it.

Just a question. Here in KC we have the neg*o leagues base ball museum. The white reporters say the n word on tv all the time when reporting from there. Is that acceptable because that's what it's called or should they not have white reporters doing stories from there?
