I think it's awfully naive to think any country's government actually respects the consent of the governed in modern times. They only try to gauge how far they can go before the peasants show up en masse at their front door with torches and pitchforks. Hence the democrats' reaction to the January 6th protest.

Yes, I am seeing things in America that I never thought I would. We have a government that considers the Constitution an collection of suggestions that can be ignored it it does not suit their agenda. I never thought I would see widespread censorship and I never thought I would see government agencies being used as weapons against political adversaries.

No. But keep in mind I'm from a country that has freedom since it's inception (if you were white at least). Keep in mind the Soviet Union fell in 1991. If you're Russian and over 30 you don't have a good understanding of what it means to be truly free. A populace that is used to being subjugated. Doesn't really understand any other way.
