What would happen if abortion was strictly between the pregnant woman and her doctor; with no government involvement?

After all, just the patient and their doctor together make decisions for her/his health now. Why is abortion any different? I say the government needs to stay the heck out of matters such as this. What are your thoughts?

We already know what happens. We have decades of data from in our own country and many, many others. Poverty decreases, crime decreases, more women attend higher education, more women earn better pay and have higher paying careers, and stereotypes start to break down and fade away.

There's always probably still going to be some sort of gap or difference between men and women when it comes to this, but women tend to gravitate to jobs with higher degrees of empathy while generally, men tend to lean more towards what could be called traditional STEM careers, Law, Business management, and so on. There's nothing wrong with that as long as equal opportunity exist for both men and women to pursue careers they desire.

Lots of doctor would refuse to do it, in my country doctor have the rights to refuse to give any women abortion if he doesn't want to (doctor are made to safe life not kill it so the government of my country give doctor right to refuse abortion for morals reasons).
Lots of women where I live cannot get abortion and have to got abroad to get it since many doctor refuse to do any abortion in their hospital.

It would be ideal. Women wouldn't have to worry about unsafe or illegal abortions. These types of abortions are tragic and put the woman's health and life at risk. Only uncivilized societies want to ban abortion. That's exactly the way it should be. Abortion decisions should be between the woman, her partner/husband, and her doctor.

You are correct; "whim" is not the right word. For women, I think many of the decisions are based on personal convenience and little thought is given to the life of the unborn child. For doctors who provide abortions, I suppose they answered the moral questions for themselves many years ago and no longer give any weight to such considerations.

It's not your place to decide what a woman can do with her body, especially when consulting an expert. Stop watching Fox and let your empathy for others recover. You don't speak like someone who's held a devastated friend as she sobs because the only way to save her life is to receive an abortion since the egg was fertilized and attached to the lining of the fallopian tube, resulting in a tubal pregnancy. The fetus was going to die and in the process, kill the mother. It's nobodies fault, not the mother nor the fetus.

Additionally, the fetus is not a sapient, sentient, and self-aware being like the mother. The mother is more important than a fetus. And we wouldn't even need to have a debate if boomers like yourself voted for actual truly pro-life policies like pre-natal care, frequent doctor visits, subsidies for children as they grow up, making sure they don't lack for shelter, safety, nor food. But in overwhelming numbers, your age group votes against any kind of pro-life assistance for the child once they're born. And as they grow into self-aware beings, very aware that they're hungry or cold. Y'all even voted against feeding children during a global emergency.

The only reason you care about the fetus is as a way and means to control women and forcing them into terrible situations. If you were actually pro-life, American children wouldn't be near dead-last in health, education, and poverty. You're pro-control, not pro-life. Why stop at one issue? If we could get government out of ALL aspects of our lives we would be more productive, friendlier, happier, more innovative, and we would spend less money on the ruling class’ friends and families stupidity etc. Think of the infrastructure and schools and healthcare that could exist if they all had to run efficiently without the power of government violence to insulate them from their bad decisions? The innovative solutions to economic problems? When companies compete, the consumer wins. I think abortion as birth control is wrong. I think abortion because of rape, or incest, or sexual assault, or medical reasons is perfectly fine. And before you say anything.. Abortion for medical, rape or abuse, or incest, makes up less than 0.01% of all abortions..

I do believe you're right, it should be between your doctor and i will add to this, the father. I read some of your other comments. I also came from a single mother home. I refused to be like that with my wife. I dont abandon my responsibilities. Most men dont. I bring people into my doctor's appointments all the time, I you should ask if you could be there when decisions are made.
Speaking of men, I am a fatherless daughter. My father abandoned me when I was only four years old. Did I have a say in his decision to take off and not look back? He'll no! Then after 4 years of what I thought was a happy marriage, my husband abandoned me and our baby.
My point is that you men want a say so when it comes to abortion - but do the kids get a say so when they are alive and being abandoned?

99.9% of the work in having a child is the woman's. Men get way more than 0.1% of a say in what happens.
