The law says that by 17 I'm legally charged as an adult. So does that mean I'm legally an adult? If so doesn't that also mean I am old enough and can be responsible for myself with put my parents arguing about it?

Don't expect the government to make sense or to be fair. It is government that makes the laws and they want it both ways. You must be 21 to do anything the government doesn't approve and they would rather it be 30. However, they want maximum sentences and easy convictions, no matter your age. To convict someone, the government would rather say 12 year olds can be charged as adults. And as the government takes more rights from the people, both will happen.

Everything is interpreted in the governments favor. Just like gambling. If you win, you pay taxes but if you lose, too bad. Sign up for the military and the government can break the contract anytime they choose and kick you out, but you can't break the contract.

So basically yes but not in every situation and it varys depends on country and state laws.

In Australia we have a proof of independents system that basically means if you work and have your own income you get some more rights and if you live independently you get more rights.

If you do both and file for independence it makes you an adult you can do everything but buy alchohol.

If it's a crime your old enough to make logical decisions you will be trialed as an adult most of the time.

I don’t recommend using the law to prove an individual’s maturity/responsibility levels, including yourself. They’re at best loosely correlated. That being said, whatever argument you had with your parents, the best way to prove your responsibility is by simply showing it through your actions over time. I know exactly what you mean. I don't think there are many people who haven't had the same discussion with their parents.
The trouble is though when they throw the "my house, my rules" line at you. If you aren't prepare to move out, you gotta still play along being a kid in their eyes for a while.
The only real way to make them appreciate you being an adult is to show them they can trust you.. but if you are anything like me? it took me moving out to show them that..

You have a lot of Hill obstacles when I was 16 I moved out of my mom's house because of her new husband and I just did not get along but anyway if you're going to do this you have to be prepared for it don't start an argument and I'll be ready you have to have a job you got to have the money you have to have a place to go there's all kinds of things that are going to hold you back if you're not ready for them

In the state I live in it is 18. I worked in a K-12 school system and often parents would call he high school principal asking a question about their child. If the child was 18 years old the principal of office staff would not give out that information.

I've seen a couple in the newspaper he was age 19 and she was age 17, it made them legal cause he was still considered a teenager, and age 20 is an adult but legally you can't buy cigarettes or alcohol to age 21 ... But you can be charged as an adult if you commit a crime there are teens age 15 being charged with murder.

Many it is 18 but if you commit certain felony crimes you can be charged as an adult even at 16.

That doesn't mean your an adult, it just means the crime is an adult crime and treated as such.

It depends on where you live. In Michigan, 16 is legal. I've heard of other places that say 12.

18 years old is required to sign a contract without guardians. So working or renting is kinda the measurement.

But courts charged a 12 year old killer as an adult a few years ago.
