There is a girl that I like and we seem to both like each other. However, I am 34 and she just turned 24. My parents have mentioned that she is too young for me and that some parents would not approve of the age gap. Am I too old for her or is this just something parents think? Would you date someone that is that much younger or older?
I don't know that there is too old. The maturity and communication skills of both people is what really matters. What I'd really focus on is your parents involvement. There's a fine line between parents having sage advice and wisdom and experience from the trenches, however, in this case I think they stepped over the fine line. They need to either provide you solid empirical evidence about why this particular girl isn't right, not a nebulous age statement.

I don't think that's a problem at your respective ages. I had a 25 year old girlfriend when I was 34 and her family didn't care.
I'm not a fan of age gaps but 10 years really isn't a big deal. I think once it starts getting to age gaps of like 15 years then that's a little weird since the older person could technically be their parent.

I used to be obsessed with my partner being my same age as me, but I'm over that.
My parents had like a 12 year age gap and they were married forever. I think as long as she's over like 23 ish, and the guy isn't some fat old bugger who totally let himself go it could probably work.
10 years is fine any younger than that Id rethink it. Just make sure you understand the maturity dynamic between the age gaps if you continue seeing her.
I only like women younger than me, my girlfriend is 16 years old.
