It’s funny, I play my music pretty loud when I’m driving….. like where else can I do that but in my car? If I do it at my home, the neighbors would complain about the sustained noise, let alone my lady, lmao. My car is all I have. I understand maybe not parking somewhere and blasting it, but if i’m just moving through traffic? Fuck that.
I’ve been accosted by civilians on multiple occasions in my 20s for my music. The common denominator of all these events was that it was when I was listening to rap, and the complainers were middle-aged white people. Not for nothing, I’ve had just as many people COMMEND my music too. Some Puerto Rican lady called out to me and said it was good to see a whiteboy keeping it hood, lmfao. Ok, whatever, but thanks?😂 Or just people in neighboring cars would be like “DipSEEEETTTTTT” (if I was listening to Dipset, as I usually was in that era, haha). Those folks were usually younger and were Puerto Rican or black, except for a white guy outside of the hockey store a few months ago when I was listening to Johnny P’s Caddy when it first dropped, and the kid was just like “I’ve been listening to this song all week. Sorry, I just heard it and had to comment.”, and we just both said J. Cole might have the verse of the year on that track, and then went on our way. That was actually refreshing to hear, haha.
This white lady in the town I went to college in (which was SUPER soft lmao) pulled up next to me at a red light when I was listening to my music relatively loud. I forget the song but it wasn’t anything wicked vulgar or anything, it’s not 1988 2 Live Crew😂 She goes “excuse me…um…don’t you think your music is a little loud? It’s kind of like… “assaulting” other people.” Oh my god. OH MY GOD. Lady, you are not cut out for life on Earth if that constitutes assault to you, just lmfao. I wanted to cuss her out but thought about what my mother would say, haha, so instead I said “Congratulations, ma’am. You must have a great life.” She looks confused and says “excuse me?” I said “If hearing a song you don’t want to hear for literally 30 seconds at a stoplight is enough to ruin your day, then you clearly don’t have any REAL problems.” She had nothing in response, lmfao, and the light changed and I was out.
But yeah, the thing that really bugs me about this is police aspect. I feel like driving laws are filled with all these minor infractions they can stop you for, and it’s not that they truly care about the infraction, but it’s just an excuse to pull you over and “check you out.” This sounds like the next excuse after tinted windows and objects hanging from you rearview mirror. Zero chance they give a fuck or think it’s dangerous (I love how the tint thing is purportedly all about the safety of cops, too, literally no other reason to object). We have “MD” license plates here for doctors, I don’t know why they’re needed, but we have them, so sometimes you see a nice car drive by with an “MD.” Might be a CLK with tinted windows or something, and I guarantee you no cop will ever pull them over just to check their tint level when they identify them as a doctor. Hear some loud music that might be linked to particular ethnic or racial groups in America, like rap or reggaeton or something…. I bet that tint is getting checked. That’s just what I don’t like, all these little reasons for the law to stop and check you out if they profile you. Fuck that.

My father taught me one thing many years ago about my rights. He told me to double up my fist and stretch it out. He stated that is end of your rights where where it reaches and touches the other guy's nose. His rights touches your nose. That is as far as our rights go.
I love music🎵 but I also know my style of music is not your style of music. Some music has a tendency to interrupt people's thoughts. I t becomes very irritating, aggravating and I want to destroy that guy's beautiful sound because it's infringing on my rights. People need to be respected. I don't like it when I'm in a beautiful moment and some guy pulls up behind me his tunes are blur and so loud it vibrates my car. I cannot wait till the light changes. I just want to reach into that guy's car and yank him out of there and beat the shit out of him. But I know he's got the right to play his tunes. So the light changes and I go on my way and I don't have listen to his style of music. We need to learn to be respective to other people's rights also. That is when somebody complains, which creates a noise ordinance.
Just remember where your rights are and your neighbor's rights. Keep your tunes down where you can hear them but not share them. That's where your rights stop. I just remembered what my father.
Freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to disturb others with loud noise. If you play your car radio so loud that people on the street and other driving by can hear it, that is very inconsiderate and rightfully should be prevented with fines. No one plays a care radio that loud except to attract attention.
kind of, but what should be illegal in all 50 states are those customized exhaust pipes that literally sound like freaking gunshots

My first thought was that they'd base it on decibels for loudness, which would make some level of sense but according to a link in your article it's "audible music from more than 25 feet away," and that's not much at all, even with the windows up. I could understand wanting to stop people from blasting music in residential areas, and tailoring the law accordingly, but that seems pretty absurd and more as another minor ticketable offense, especially for the cities where cars are stationary and a passing cop could notice. Or an excuse to search a car or driver for something else.
You must live in a very polite area. I can't tell you how many times I've been interrupted by some young punk driving by, blasting nuclear bass notes at everyone within a hundred yard radius. Sometimes I'll be trying to SLEEP, and unable to, because all the world HAS to know his opinion on the local "hoes". You try that in Chicago, and it'll be a contest between the cops and the local thugs who stops you first.
If you REALLY want my support, DeSantis, start enforcing the turn signal laws. They ARE required, even out here.Places have always had noise ordinances and I agree with them. You might think you have a right to do it, but by doing so you intrude on other people's rights. You can't put your rights above someone else's. I don't know the details of a Florida law, but noise ordinances are pretty lenient. They allow reasonable sound volumes and typically aren't even enforced unless someone complains.
It is funny how people think when you unleash government control, it will only affect certain groups. They truly think it isn't going to come back and bite them in the ass.
I guess it would depend on what levels they limit the sound to. We live in a society where stupid laws like this get made because a small amount of people abuse a freedom. Laws are an infringement on freedom period. People just choose which freedoms are worth forfeiting to keep society running smoothly.
It's a good law. Excessive sound is annoying, distracting and potentially dangerous. A driver should be paying attention to driving, not excessively loud music.
One of my neighbor's kids has a stereo in his car that I can hear go by when I am in my living room with the windows down. I want to pass one of those laws too.
There is but one freedom that is absolute and it's thought. All other freedoms are not absolute, including expression. Your freedoms end when they curtail others'.
It is a crazy law. But on the other hand. If people wouldn’t drive around with outrageous sound systems and rattle the neighborhood windows. That law would have never been thought of.

I don’t like that either I used to have a boombox with 12 inch kickers in my truck and 1000 wats amplifier
Florida low key tripping. Trying squeeze any little dollar out of people
Total old people move. Theyre a powerful lobby.
Lunch is now at 9am and dinner the night before. If you talk about those ghetto assholes that blast "music" as they drive, they need to be ticketed and towed.
lots of places have laws against loud music, i don't even know why we let car speakers go that loud it's bad for your ears
I can see why people like it but this sounds like a cash grab to me. This isn't surprising at all considering this is the police we are talking about.
Bit of an odd thing to focus on but sounds good. It's something I regulate in my car as I don't like it from others.
Lol. I mean, I love loud music, too. But there is a point at which it becomes excessive.
The Gov doesn't like that noise that people call music
It's like smoking.
Your right to smoke stops at the tip of my nose.I love this new law. I’m tired of hearing other peoples mysic blast in my ear. I will be reporting drivers when I see them with their subs and stuff.
